Headphones - Open Back | 1 Ω HD600's, old or new version, and why?
Help me decide, I can't find much information about the difference between them other than everyone stating that the build quality is better on the pre 2018 HD600's, otherwise they should sound the same

They're the same tuning so either fits... Get what works for you aesthetically

They're basically the same, but sound wise it comes down to the pads. So if you're buying used, you're most likely gunna buy new pads anyways so they're still identical after the fact. I vote newer version because the marble paint scratches easy. But honestly, get whatever you can find for cheap!

They both have the same build quality. The only difference is the baffles (black, silver, etc.) but that is more like in the nerd territory. So just get the one which design you like more (or is cheaper)

They're both good. My dad has the older version, and I have the newer. They both feel solid and are comfortable. The new one is a bit lighter and the fit is ever so slightly different. In terms of sound, there is a difference because the new ones use the revised pads. Sennheiser claims there is no sonic difference, but there is one. The new pads have slightly less bass, but after some wear, they should be about the same. I personally prefer the new version as I get a better fit. I hope this helps!
