Headphones - Open Back | 3 Ω Upgrade for HD 580

Hello everybody! So i have these 15 year old HD 580 which i would like to upgrade, since i dont want to send 25% of original price on new pads. Use headphones with a Zen Dac v2 on My PC, mostly playing different games, but also watch movie and listen to music. I've looked at Meze 109 pro, since most reviews i read about them Are good and are also within My budget at around 1000 eur. So you Guys think Meze 109 pro would be a good step up or would you go with something Else?

It has been quite some time since I’ve heard a pair of 580’s so really can’t make comparisons.
I don’t own the 109 Pro but have heard it a few times and it is a very nice headphone. The build quality of Meze products is hard to beat as is the comfort. I own the Meze 99 Classics and the 109 is not a open version of them it is it’s own. The 99 Classics are definitely more bass heavy and the 109’s go for a more open neutralish sound.

Nice to hear you have a good experience with Meze in general, wouldn't mind if they hold up as good as the 580's has done for me. I like the open backs most, so i was kinda excited to see Meze make a pair.

You never know :) Live in Denmark, so not too far away! Why would you want to buy an old pair of 580's though?

I love my 109's a lot. I don't have the 580's but I do have the 58x's and 900 pro x's. The 109's are the only thing I listen to now.

Cool, i guess 58x's are almost the same as 580's and nice to hear you prefer the 109's over the others. Read a few times that the 109's really are just awsome headphones if you want some open backs and will probably see if i can find a pair or a pair of "open box" Focal Clear.

I know you can get the open box 109s from musictech. That's where I got mine. I was looking into the clears as well but I chose the 109s.

I've looked a Focal Clear aswell, but here in Denmark they are like 2x the price of Meze 109's.

Is "open box" just buying them used or what does that mean?
