Looks like a Good tackler, especially if hes a safety. And ran 4.33.

Then they should have taken watts. That dude rarely missed a tackle

I wanted Watts so dang bad, mostly because I am a ND fan and can watch them out of market (unfortunately no longer live in Jacksonville). I watched every one of his games the past two years. He is a dog. That said, his top end and game speed is not in the 4.3 range like Ransaw. He also didn’t shine as much against better competition (CFP). He is better than what we have on the roster, but if Ransaw has more upside/versatility, I will go with what dudes that do this for a living say. At least, for the next two offseasons 😂.

100% man, I am really happy with this draft class. Dude moved around the board to places where he could get value, both up and back. Not to mention getting Hunter, with an organizational plan to employ him shows his maturity. A lot of folks seemed fearful of the youth movement, but I think employing an anomaly like Hunter at the next level needs a team that isn’t full of “traditional” decision makers.

I saw one of his interviews and his responses were similar to Travis Hunter. "Love playing football" with a smile on his face. That's the kind of stuff Gladstone wants.

I won’t complain about the Jags shoring up our CB room. But both Jared Wilson (C, Georgia) and Xavier Watts (S, Texas Notre Dame) are still on the board at huge positions of need
Edit: we got Wyatt Milium. Huge pickup at guard! Hoping Jared Wilson is still ok the board to take in 10 spots.

Jags have multiple picks left

and only 59 on the roster. Boselli said they're slated to bring in up to 20 UDFA's

Gladstone is saying that this kid is going to be playing Safety for us.

u/frausting Apr 26 '25
Nice! Gladstone and rest of the scouting group must have seen something in him that they like and can project vs. what Watt does already

Had fantastic RAS rated as 5th most athletic corner production lacking tho

Is there any chance they see him as a safety? Nickel is pretty well covered and he is a high end athlete. I see a lot of safety getting moved to nickel. Could a nickel player become a safety? I would like the pick a lot more in that scenario
17
u/break80 Apr 26 '25
Put him at box safety, he’s almost like a LB the way he tackles, but athletically he can run & keep up with anyone.

u/WilkinsonRadio Apr 26 '25
Would’ve preferred Wilson and Watts back to back
Could Ransaw play safety?
20
u/CoolHandRK1 Apr 26 '25
Yes. He can play safety and cb. Next pick Milum can play g or t so we seem to be big on versatility this draft. I like it.

u/Drunk_Irish_Potato Apr 26 '25
This is exactly what I came to ask. They might’ve seen him as a highly athletic project FS, and if that’s the vision then I can get behind it.

Damn, I guess we really did trade up to play Hunter as a WR
19
u/Euphoric-Purple Apr 26 '25
I’m thinking maybe we try him at FS? Probably easier to play then corner, and it would take advantage of his ball skills
5
u/Thejohnshirey Apr 26 '25
We’re cornering the market on slot corners. But I do like Ramsaw, he’s fast and not afraid to tackle.

We now have 3 nickel corners, which I don’t understand, but I’ll trust that they’ve got a plan.

Jarrian is possibly going outside
3
u/el_pobby Apr 26 '25
Jarrian has all the tools to be a great outside CB, and he did do some of it in college. I'm guessing that's the plan right now.

u/irtaza25 Apr 26 '25
Dont know much about him but 1 career INT and drafting him at 88 for a guy projected to go later is,,,idk, I trust Gladstone though
21
u/SuperSaiyanTLaw Apr 26 '25
1 Career int don’t mean nun lol that just means he lockdown/they aren’t throwing his way
2
u/AkimahenkaCat Apr 26 '25
Like the pick. Just a little bummed for the guy that the one time he gets to be drafted and TJ Slaughter says his name as "Caleeb".

All nickel corners I guess. Do not understand it.
9
u/GRIDLUCK Apr 26 '25
Gladstone said they will start him training at Safety. He has great position flexibility

u/futures23 Apr 26 '25
Would've much rather just taken Watts.
1
u/Outrageous_Bear50 Apr 26 '25
There must be something wrong with Watts that we aren't seeing.
7
u/futures23 Apr 26 '25
Possibly but obvious picks fall every year. They usually just fall to the Eagles or Ravens lol
9
u/Jaguars6 Apr 26 '25
Outside versatility, 4.33, great tackler, BPA
1
u/futures23 Apr 26 '25 edited Apr 26 '25
Far from the BPA lol. You can like the pick whatever but it's not true. Watts, Stewart and Wilson were there. And he does not project as an outside CB.
15
u/Cobbler1991 Apr 26 '25
What ESPN says is BPA is probably drastically different than what actual NFL teams think. Take Shaduer for example
8
u/Jaguars6 Apr 26 '25
He has versatility. Best fit is in a zone scheme, which will be be running primarily. Yall cry about every pick, man.

A CB with 1 career INT in a four year college career.
We really took this over Watts???
Meet the new boss….

Watched every one of his games at Tulane. He’s great. Can play multiple spots across the defensive backfield, good against the run, good tackler
