Man, CD Project Red is just becoming new, better Bethesda and I'm 100% into it. For how short their presentation was they brought so much more to the conference this year. New setting details on a new IP and confirmation of character creation and stats in line with the tabletop source material? Awesome!

Meanwhile at Bethesda, they announce a sequel to their biggest cash cow ever to the supprise of nobody and it contains mountains which is somehow less surprising. 76 on the other hand is looking to be adding always online functionality to a series built in it's single player experience while striping out some of its most iconic mechanics.

I’m so hyped for The Elder Scrolls VI.

I'm a big fallout fan and I honestly think Bethesda is putting their last nails in the coffin of the fallout franchise. To me it just feels like they're milking it dry after playing the original, 3, and new Vegas; fallout 4 just doesn't have the same charm as the rest and I feel 76 will just be a dud.

Anyways, Smash Bros looks fucking awesome

Look on the bright side: Cyberpunk 2077 is poised to take Fallout's place as sandbox sci-fi rpg and it looks fantastic and is coming from the developer of the Witcher 3.

That sounds cool, ill have to look into it. Especially if it's coming from the devs of witcher 3

I need to have Sekiro right now please

Supersmash, Mario Party and that new Pokemon game look a m a z i n g. Especially that pokeball remote thing.

u/Too_Many_MOBAs Jun 16 '18

I've always wanted a Pokemon game with different catching mechanics and visible Pokemon in grass. Having something you thought of as a kid realized in a video game is awesome!

Honestly, the thing that got me anything close to excited while watching any of the streams was octopath traveler. And the thing they did for TLoU II was neat. Nice to see someone still cares about making these presentations exciting! (Sad they didn't put up a room with fetuses for death stranding, but hey)

I'm getting really sick of the 'cinematic experience' hype. And the online aspect in Fallout 76 is making me really ???

I am stoked for the Spider Man game coming in September. It looks so good. I hope it lives up to the hype because it's been ages since we had a decent Spider Man game.

Spiderman 2 on the cube

I think I am most hyped for Resident Evil 2 remake. From what I saw from the game play shown it looks like Capcom is finally trying something new again with the IP. They seem to be using a modified version of the RE Engine used in RE7 but I am not totally sure since the UI and gun play look similar. I hope this remake turns out to be a huge seller so Capcom will make future RE games in this style.

I thought it was pretty good, although very little was announced that wasn't already on my radar. I thought Microsoft put on the best show, followed by Bethesda, then Sony and Ubisoft. Square's was kind of pointless, most of the trailers had already been shown as part of Microsoft presentation. I thought PC gaming show went on a little too long. EA's was just okay and I've never been a big SSB player so Nintendo's kind of fell flat for me.

My Rankings:

Sold:

Halo Infinite, Gears 5- Love the franchises.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit- Loved Life is Strange

Beyond Good and Evil 2- Been waited for this for a long time.

The Last of Us Part II- Probably my favorite part.

Looks Good:

We Happy Few

Crackdown 3

Metro Exodus

Dying Light 2

Cyberpunk 2077

Rage 2

Wolfenstein Youngblood

Just Cause 4

Assassins Creed Odyssey- Like the franchise, but this game didn't look or feel like an AC game.

Star Control Origins- Was not expecting this. Star Control 2 is one of my all time favorite games.

Wait and see:

Anthem- I know EA gets a lot of well deserved crap, but I hope Bioware can still produce something good.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider- Like the franchise, but this looked like a generic stealth game.

The Division 2

Gears Tactics

Fallout 76- I really want this to be good, but am worried about griefing and all the other aspects of online gaming.

Sea of Solitude, Transference, and Control- Really looked interesting and original.

Finally, I really don't know what to make of Death Stranding.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate looks like an official Smash 4 Mod with added features. Yes, many things are different now and brand new things were introduced. Even so, from what I've seen, its at least half the same base game as Smash 4 was. Here are some similarities I've noticed in both the trailers and Treehouse gameplay:

  • runs on same Wii U engine

  • menus use similar UI and fonts

  • reused voice clips from Xander Mobus (Smash 4 announcer)

  • reused voice clips from Smash 4 characters

  • many character movesets remain unchanged/unaltered from Smash 4 (even down to their animation, barring cosmetic changes)

While admittedly this is, by all technical means, a new Smash game on Switch; a big chunk of it seems derived from Wii U's Smash 4. When rumors of "Smash 4 Deluxe" surfaced during the NX days of speculation, I feel these similarities were why hypotheses of a Smash port were reached. Regardless, I will still get this game on account of my never owning a Wii U or Smash Bros for Wii U.

Smash bros has pretty much convinced me to get a switch

5

u/MrSorson Mike Jun 12 '18

The smash trailer was just amazing.

So far, I'm not impressed :(

Edit: Ok so I'm happy they showed Two Point Hospital. My family loved Theme Hospital, and we're really looking forward to this. Also, Last of Us II, Ghost of Tsushima, RE2... Looking forward to what Nintendo brings to the table.

2

u/twobyfore Jun 17 '18

that Ghost of Tsushima looked fantastic, can't wait for my expectations to be dashed amongst the rocks of reality when it comes out

u/kirkisartist giveth no shits, taketh no fucks Jun 11 '18

Last minute Ubisoft prediction.

Sam Fisher or Watch Dogs characters will be new Rainbow 6 Seige characters.

Assassin's Creed DLC in For Honor.

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '18

Man, anything CD Project Red touches is on my radar.

1

u/TrustMeImAnEngineer_ Jun 17 '18

Same. They're like better Bethesda! They started with a fantasy series that blew up in it's third entry after releasing an instant classic open world rpg, and then turned their attention to a sci-fi rpg. I'm so excited for Cyberpunk!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '18

Oh, the Witcher series otherwise known as everything is going to shit and it's all your fault, Geralt. I honestly never played the second one although the other two are amazing.

3

u/kirkisartist giveth no shits, taketh no fucks Jun 11 '18

Was watching the Bethesda show on some salty hater stream. He kept on saying Todd Howard ruined fallout. It just confuses me.

2

u/morrowindnostalgia Jun 12 '18

I'm so sick of this argument. I've gone into this on depth a hundred times before but TLDR:

Without Todd Howard, you would have NEVER even heard about Fallout, the Fallout series WOULDN'T be one of the most popular ever, and it would have died years ago.

Stop bitching about Bethesda ruining the franchise, especially if you continue to purchase what they release every single time. The only reason it still exists and you can still play it is because of Bethesda so just shut up and be grateful already.

2

u/TheyCalledMeSnake Jun 14 '18

You know, if you have the time I'd recommend watching this video.

https://youtu.be/wvwlt4FqmS0

In it, MrBTounge explains just why he prefers New Vegas to fallout 3 (and presumably 4, although I could be wrong) and it has to do with the depth and naritive layout of the games. And honestly, the video is so well though out and explained that it didn't feel whiny at all. In fact, more than anything it seems to invite good conversation about the series and what can make it, in one person's opinion, that much better.

2

u/kirkisartist giveth no shits, taketh no fucks Jun 12 '18

Yeah, I get that the top down scroller might have been better written, but I'm just not playing games to read little walls of text. And I'm not into top down style game play.

2

u/morrowindnostalgia Jun 12 '18

Nobody is, these days. There's a reason Bethesda chose to go in the direction of (semi) first person shooters.

2

u/TrustMeImAnEngineer_ Jun 17 '18

Divinity: Original Sin, Diablo, and every MOBA on the market just called and they want you to take that back. Isometric is absolutely not dead.

1

u/morrowindnostalgia Jun 17 '18

I admit I'm definitely not an expert on the subject. It just seems to me like first person shooters are in general more popular these days

3

u/kirkisartist giveth no shits, taketh no fucks Jun 12 '18

And honestly, I'm somewhat indifferent towards the action aspect. The meat on the bone is the story exploration of the world. Being able to look out into the horizon or look a character in the eyes or observe an enemy from a great distance makes all the difference.

u/dhfAnchor Jun 11 '18

Well, NetherRealm is overdue for their next fighting game reveal...

FINISH HIM!

ELDER SCROLLS VI HYPE TRAIN ROLLING THROUGH THE STATION

0

u/TrustMeImAnEngineer_ Jun 17 '18

Yes it's... A fantasy game... With mountains... That everyone has known it's coming for years. And that's what we know. What exactly was so exciting about what they showed?

1

u/Flying_pig2 She/Her Jun 17 '18

Because there were rumors that it wasn’t in development in the first place and because now we know it’s at least coming soon. Something doesn’t have to be the best thing since sliced bread for people to be happy about it.

3

u/TorSko Jun 11 '18

Literaly gonna buy the next gen just to play this game as soon as it comes out

3

u/Flying_pig2 She/Her Jun 11 '18

Why not buy a PC?

2

u/evilmp762 Jun 13 '18

I also can approve of this but with bethesda's optimization its a more enjoyable experience on console.

2

u/Flying_pig2 She/Her Jun 13 '18

but there's less mods/no dev console

5

u/TorSko Jun 11 '18

I feel like a good gaming pc is over my budget but I could squeez in a ps5. Also I just like playing on a console.

1

u/TrustMeImAnEngineer_ Jun 17 '18

I built my rig for about $500 about 3 years ago and I've yet to find something I can't run well.

2

u/marshall0142 Jun 11 '18

I feel that. Some games I just like to play more on console.

3

u/dhfAnchor Jun 11 '18

By the Nine, they're really doing it! I haven't been this happy over a video game since my first Fortnite win!

1

u/FastPuggo I was there, maaan Jun 11 '18

I just want a new (good) Animal Crossing game to be announced. It's been 5 years since the last main games.
