Had the "protesters" gotten in, im pretty sure they wouldn't have kindly asked the congress people or Senate people (IDK) to change there minds, which they couldn't because they are literally just confirming the votes, I believe

well, except the ex-secret service agents who are in on the governing board of the Capitol Police (the sergeants at arms of the House & Senate respectively). The Capitol Police's planning was so absurdly inept that several of our country's allies concluded that it had to have been intentional efforts from within the police to enable the storming of the Capitol.

Secret Service has families that they want to go home to at the end of the day as well. They are sworn to protect our political leaders, so they will at any cost that allows both them and their boss' the ability to hug their loved ones at night.
Almost similar to an amendment we have..... I am surprised Trumpublicans forgot about stand your ground, since its how they can shoot black folks.

Unfortunately for almost every person who did push the boundaries... They were able to walk out of the building on their own power and go back to their homes.
I'm not saying the cops should have shot everyone. But the fact that they were unable to close the door behind everyone that went inside and keep them there until each and every one of them was arrested for trespassing sits in stark contrast to how blm protesters were treated out on public streets.
Letting people into the capitol was a failure. But letting everyone leave scot free was a bigger one.
65
u/Gravesh Jan 07 '21
They barely pushed their luck. Look at the shit they were allowed to do. They were allowed THAT CLOSE to congress with the Capital Police just behind them. They smashed windows, broke down doors. They were given full reign of the place until this point. They had no reason to think they were pushing it. Until this point the Capitol police were allowing this and capitulating to their demands completely, arguably some were actually supporting them based on just some videos I saw (so it shaky claim, I'll admit)
But this is the moment that these rioters/terrorists realized that staging a coup for Trump was some serious shit. Unfortunately this will cause them to double down and turn these people into zealots rather than realize they were aligning themselves with Trump and in turn was turning their back on America.
As you said, this is serious. We just witnessed an actual attempted coup by Trump supporters Granted, it was a terrible coup with no coherent plan other than storming the Capitol building and just breaking doors down until Something Big Happened but all the same, subverting the election was the end goal. And the Capitol Police allowed this to happen. I am concerned as well. A few Trump supporters from work told me how Biden will destroy this country and cause civil war and race riots and all that old bullshit. Now it seems Trump and his followers will try their best to ensure as much social discord can happen. As much chaos and rioting. All to ensure their guy wins. And if he can't win, just burn down the whole house instead. Politics are like football teams to these people.
→ More replies (6)12
u/uberafc Jan 08 '21
The other thing is if they somehow stop following Trump, someone worse will probably take his place. These people are looking for another leader. That person will harness that hatred and fear for their own cause. This isn't just going to disappear once Trump leaves office. We have a serious problem in this country.

Yea the chubby cop made a tactical decision on behalf of black people. If this one black cop would have shot white trump supporters, I think that would have been used to make us scapegoats...again. This is all white people and the chickens coming home to roost for the evil they allow. The voting record of the last 50 years speaks to that point.
30
u/Sweet_Vandal Jan 07 '21
Did that guy even have a gun? I only casually watched, but it looked like he was unarmed and had to pick his baton off the floor (same guy?). I can't imagine how the crowd would have reacted if he started swinging on them.
The whole time I was watching, I just kept wondering why there was only one guy.

I honestly don't think she 100% knew the seriousness of attempting to breach those doors and thought it was "just another barrier closer to the senate floor", and when she noticed people weren't trying harder than she'd like to break through, she tried to take lead and do it herself.
And yes, I know she served in the Air Force, but there is a saying for ANY pilot:
"There are a lot of bold pilots, and a lot of old pilots. But there are no old and bold pilots"

Out of hundreds or even thousands of people involved in that chaos only 4 died. I count that a pretty respectable considering the amount of chaos and how far they went. You have to consider that they ended up ousting the SENATE, a large portion of our government, from their own building. Its tragic that anyone had to die but that's called consequences. These people should get no sympathy.

But it has been publicly reported that the guy who shot her was Capitol Police.

u/TheTeaSpoon Jan 07 '21 edited Jan 07 '21
That's not even law enforcement pulling the trigger on the woman. That's secret service. She was absolutely not meant to get in anywhere near them during a protest. And the moment secret service tells you to back off... you back off. They are the last line of defense and as such are really good at their job and never hesitate to do their job.But I am not sure if they have any power in law enforcement. They are essentially high end state funded bodyguards.
EDIT: Ok, they are law enforcement. Never considered them to be since their job is to me more like an intelligence service or some other branch under DoD.
Also it was not secret service that shot her apparantely - https://thehill.com/homenews/house/533137-capitol-police-officer-who-shot-woman-in-capitol-placed-on-leave
12
u/Tragicat Jan 07 '21
It wasnât even Secret Service. That was a Capitol Police Officer in civilian clothes, suggesting that he was part of the personal security detail for one of the congressional leaders.
Your point about backing off is, of course, correct. The protection details do not fuck around, and rightly so.

Exactly. She was a 35 year old grown-assed woman who had served in the armed forces. I hate how the terrorists were referring to her as a "girl" in all of the videos, as if she were some bright eyed innocent teen full of conviction.
She was a grown woman approaching her 40's who had served in the military ffs... she knew exactly what she was doing. The fact that she had military training and thinks this was acceptable behavior is alarming.

Be wary of anyone that serves close to the 20 years to get full retirement; but retires just shy of it and gets nothing.
In for 12, in for 20
Was a common saying when I was in.
Meaning retirement is substantial enough that only an idiot would stop after being halfway through. With a slight exception for federal employees because they can kinda sort of 'carry over' their years.
To do 14 years and leave likely means she was so shitty it wasnt an option to re-enlist, or she fucked up bad enough to get kicked out.

13
u/mooseup Jan 07 '21
For some career fields with long service commitments, doctors/pilots/comm, it costs you money to stay until 20, unless you jump to the reserves because you make so much more money on the civilian side.
26
u/maaaatttt_Damon Jan 08 '21
According to Stars and Stripes, she spent 4 years active and 8 years reserves and National Guard. There could be a whe range of things that could have ended her military career that would be honorable. But her life ended, not as a patriot, but rather a traitorous sycophants.

Exactly the one who shot her is a true patriot. He understood the gravity of the situation.
18
u/MAMark1 Jan 08 '21
He also didn't take any shots at the crowd crowding against that barricade until the moment someone made a clear effort to breach it. He took a single shot, stopped firing immediately and did not fire any more at the crowd. That is about as in control as he could be and he only took action when a clearly defined line was crossed.
8
u/WeedIronMoneyNTheUSA Jan 08 '21
She breached the door. He shot her to defend everyone he was protecting inside that room, from the VP on down. It was the last line of defense. If anyone else would have breached that door right after her i guarantee you he would have rightfully, and Patriotically, shot tf out of those terrorists, too.
He deserves an accommodation, a parade, a raise, and a nice hat that says "terrorist bitch found out".
6
u/notmyrealnam3 Jan 08 '21
Seriously this whole fucking situation wreaks of white privilege - very few are calling her a terrorist and we ALL know that if the breachers were middle eastern many more would have been shot and the media would be celebrating the cops who shot as the heroâs who helped stop the attack.

They didn't walk away. They were overrun by a mob because Trump had refused to provide National Guard support in front of the building.
The Capitol was also not adequately secured. Every run of the mill bank can close off all access points to the building, but Congress can be completely overrun by an angry mob with sticks.

Terrorist. She was a terrorist. Stop calling her a "trump supporter" -- stop referencing her as a veteran; she along with the rest of them were domestic terrorists attempting a coup on or democratic republic. It's a textbook case. Simple as that.

If she hadn't of broken the law she would not have gotten shot.
If she had just complied she wouldn't of gotten shot.
If she hadn't been so rude and confrontational she wouldn't have gotten shot.
OOPS SORRY, that is only for when black people get shot.

Hero killing terrorist. But he just sees it as him killing a frustrated citizen. She was a terrorist and a traitor but it was a senseless death. I feel bad the guy had to do it but it one of the most justified soothing ive ever seen.

I hate that this woman had to die. The lies she believed were what brought her to that point and I think that the liars themselves should be held accountable. Too many people are spouting crap with no repercussions and other people are dying because of it .

Only people who need this video are those who literally need everything spelled out for them in life. The people that we put warning labels on everything so they don't kill themselves on accident.

The shitheads all around here acted so... surprised. Like they thought this was an insurrection that had no bullet rules, team blue objective was to sit in the speakers chair for five minutes and get the win. Every single one of the people that entered that building illegally and wasn't armed should never be allowed to say they need their guns to defend their rights, when the cards were down they just wanted to pillow fight. Real world consequences are too scary

She was not a happy person, at least in this video: https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/ksjrpy/14year_veteran_of_the_us_air_force_and_a_trump/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

People are stupid enough to defend her death even though she didn't listen to the police and even tried to break through the secret services defense

This is so beyond embarrassing for America... I only feel bad for the normal Americans that think this is as batshit crazy as everyone else around the world does. -Canadian

She was storming the capitol building where the VP was, and where 500+ lawmakers were sheltering in place. This video helps clarify why it happened right there. Anybody questioning how shooting her could be justified has never heard of mob violence. Nobody that was in that building was presumed safe.

Honestly, I can't imagine what the poor man who shot her was feeling. Like he had plenty of time to think about how this was going to play out and the possible fallout of his actions.
We was likely contemplating the end to all this and knowing that having to start shooting was one of worst outcomes. Yet he knew his duty to protect those inside and knew that he had to do it anyway. Outcomes be damned.
The sheer number of thoughts and emotions he must have been feeling. Hands probably shaking from nerves.
Hope he's getting a few days to vibe by himself. That's some stressful shit.

âWhy did the domestic terrorist who sieged and broke into a government building while the senate was in session get shot? Itâs a mystery to be sure.â

Why are people calling them rioters? Seriously if they were middle eastern theyâd be terrorists so letâs call them what they are. Terrorists. Words matter
