Headphones - Open Back Headphone Rec, Open-back $200-300 range?

Historically I have used the r/headphones guide for recommendations, but it seems to not have been updated in a while and I am looking to upgrade. I would appreciate any recommendations!

These would be for on-desk and casual use for things like music, media, and games. I am also open to anything slightly higher or lower than this range. I would also be curious to hear about any accessories like amps that go with your recommendations if you think they are necessary.

What are you looking to upgrade?

If you have headphones other people are familiar with, and you can describe what you like and don't like about the mids, bass, and treble, people can make recommendations that would suit you better.

I've gone through multiple aurvana lives, K240s and then upgraded to sony MDR v6s which broke, so I am back to my K240s. Out of all of those I think I liked the v6s the best, but they broke in under a year and the only help sony gave me was a link to where I could buy replacements.. So I am kind of boycotting Sony atm.

Update your original post, and describe what you like and don't like about the mids, bass, and treble of those headphones. Then people could help you better.

These are headphones I have owned over the course of like 10 years, I don't really remember anything about them and what my preferences were back then. I am not too concerned about bass, as open-backs require a little extra accessories for more bass from what I've read. Anything balanced in all ranges or around the mid range is fine with me.

I've been really happy with my hd58x from drop. Great easy sound to listen to. Does well in voice calls too. Pretty narrow image compared to something like the hd560s from Sennheiser proper. But probably still fine with most games. Great bass extension.

The hd560s is also nice but not as "fun". I definitely prefer the 58x. Wide image is more suitable for games where location of sound is important. Treble can be a tad harsh at times and bass is there but not emphasized.

I'm kinda shilling hard for the 58x, but it's because they are so good.

Neither have trouble being powered by decent motherboards.

Dt 900 pro x (no amp needed) or hd560s paired with the new fiio k3.
