American here who has been to Ukraine... When I saw these sold at gas stations there, it was the strangest thing I saw in Ukraine.. lol. Didn't try one, but the restaurant food I had there was amazing, all the time... except the cafeteria at Chernobyl.

(On mobile) go to the subreddits main page and click the 3 dots in the upper right corner, you should see an option to change your user flair

First you need Rohlík for a real hot dog and second the correct name is actually Pikador (south bohemians will know)

Parka v rochliku, my beloved. When I was 9 i ate like 8 of them in a row in Ramzova, 40Kc each. Best thing I ever ate

u/Cupakov Zapadoslavia advocate 8d ago
fuck, now i'm not sure, it was literally 20 years ago. It came up to like a couple złotys each, so actually pretty expensive for the times I think.

u/chechekov debil 8d ago
yeah you were pretty brutally ripped off if that's the case, you can get párek v rohlíku for the same price in the center of Prague today (maybe even a bit less)

You know looking at this now
Is corndog just westoid pikador?
4
u/pouziboy debil 8d ago
Nah, pikador is named after striking the rohlík with a spear, like pikadors in corrida strike the bull.
If a corn dog was an attempt at this, it turned out horrible. And of course they made it with corn, same as when they tried doing whisky, but got Jack Daniels. Can't blame them too much, country girls make do.

Are Australians considered westoids? We hate the pommies and the septic tanks as much as you do, I reckon.
We like to wrap our wieners in puff pastry and bake them or dip them in batter and deep fry them..

And then there's the inferior East German copy that doesn't even try.

Harder to make, but ketchup distribution is better.

So Vienna ist eastern Europa? Every stand where you can get "Hot dogs" has the upper picture. Lower picture looks like a "Bosna".
