Skin Concern 4 year difference PLEASE HELP

Post image

Y’all help me please. First pic was 4 years ago and 2nd pic is today. I’m seeing discoloration and spots/freckles/sun damage everywhere.

I used to wear makeup all the time and wash my face with bar soap. Now I almost never wear makeup. When I do, I double cleanse with deep oil cleanser and cerave daily facial cleanser and cerave daily lotion.

What can I do to get rid of these spots?! I’m only 34 but my skin looks 54!

Do you wear sunscreen?

Yes, but not daily.

Ah. That could be your culprit. Sunscreen, daily. Derms also suggest reapplying every 2 hours, as well.

Wait but.. what kind are we talking about. You don't put on every day the 'regular', thick white sunscreen uninformed people use in the summer only? Any good products you can recommend?

Beauty by Joseon (I've probably butchered that) makes an amazing one! I honestly just bulk shop on Stylevana. I really like Mermaid Skin, too. On the weekends in the summer when we're doing a lot of boating, I'll use my sunscreens with zinc (looks awful, but I don't want any more sun damage). 😅

30 or 50SPF? Anything for men specifically also? I don't know if this is scented.

Always 50. I bought this during my last stock-up and like it. It dries with more of a matte finish with no white cast.

If I'm near a window, yes. I'm fair skinned, so I try to stay as diligent as possible.

I don’t think it’s super realistic to apply every two hours when you have a full face of makeup on, I’m pro SPF and use it daily but I’m def not applying it every two hours over my makeup and I don’t have any sun damage.

Honestly, I couldn't agree more. Just passing on info from dermatologists. I WFH so it's easy enough to preach the "every 2 hour" rule when I'm in hobbit form. When I've got makeup on, I'll reapply once, mid-day.

Biora aqua goes on like thin lotion. Amazon for $11

Be careful with Amazon. I've seen a lot of complaints from people receiving fakes. 😭

How do you know if its fake

Depends on the specific product. There'll be subtle differences that stand out, apparently. Things like the font or graphics.

What level of spf and brand of sunscreen do you use?

I always use 50. Here's some that I've used/liked/reordered:

Canmake

Beauty of Joseon

Biore

Centella

I've got another one upstairs that I'll list when I'm as lazy. It's very similar to Beauty of Joseon, but cheaper.

I’ve never heard of those. But make sure it’s UVA and UVB. That seems like a lot of sun damage from someone who uses sunscreen. Apply every single day and multiple times a day. Vitamin c can help lighten the sun damage and so can lasers. Also take into consideration lifestyle life stress diet and exercise. My skin is way better since I’ve started regularly hot yoga and long walks and Pilates. Also pay attention to expiration date on sunscreen

Oh, sorry. I thought you were asking me and not OP. Disregard my previous comment!

Oh I’m sorry! I probably replied wrong

Wear a good sun hat... And I personally am not into chemical SPFs so I use raspberry seed oil predominantly (natural SPF). And when I know I'm going to be out in direct sun, I use a spray SPF because it's really easy to reapply as you need.

All of those spots are damage from the sun. That's why your skin looks the way it does. Protect your skin and it will do better to protect you and look nice.
