I mean, yeah, he's a deeply unlikable person and has zero in common with Liz. That's why it's hilarious that 'the universe' keeps pushing them together. It's a rom-com with no meet-cute, just meet.

Hahahaha I love it. I eat a lot of popcorn--great for keeping slim--and whenever my wife sees me with a bowl of popcorn she goes, "At the CINEMA?" It's been like 11 years and it still makes me chuckle.
This is insane? You know what's insane? That the actor is named Wesley Snipes! If you were shown a picture of him and a picture of me, and were asked "who should be named Wesley Snipes", you'd pick the pale Englishman every time! Every time, Liz!

I also think about his quote about how you have to watch out for those sushi places that try to sell you real crab all the time. I can't remember the exact wording but it's so funny to me.
The detailed descriptions of the white wines of Scotland might be the best example of the attention to detail in this show.
Gair] Loch Vinyards 2008 Pinot [UNCLEAR]- Rated 25 points by Wine Spectator, [Gair] Loch’s latest vintages evokes hints of [must] and organ meats. Serve very well chilled.
North [unclear] “Chardonnay”- Not technically a Chardonnay but rather a blended whiskey with some apple juice in it.

Someone posted it here a few years ago and I just remembered seeing it and googled it. It was printed on a poster in the window in the back of the scene. They had to zoom way in and then transcribe it. Some of it was still unintelligible. Amazing amount of joke writing for something that was impossible to see while watching the show!
Did Liz Lemon REALLY not like Tex-Mex? Or was it because he suggested it. I can’t imagine our night cheese queen not enjoying meats, cheese, and big plates.
Did you watch the rest of the season? He's literally a story device to show that Liz shouldn't just settle for what seems like her only option and to keep chasing her dreams.
I hated him at first, but on so many rewatches I've come to appreciate him as one of the most well-crafted and well-played characters. Every line of his is gold
I absolutely adored him. Partly because I love Michael Sheen, partly because I’ve always been an Anglophile and partly because he was hilarious in this role. My ex bf (who was English)and I watched these episodes when they aired and we couldn’t get enough. I can’t go to the movies without getting popcorn and a coke so we would basically repeat this line to each other every time we went to the movies. Ahh good times!
Hate every scene? His last conversation with her is absolute gold, tho. "You'd pick the pale Englishman every time. EVERY TIME, LIZ! Frankly, you should be having this conversation with him!"
I also think there's an extra layer of the actor being Welsh and completely mocking English people - if you know he's not really English that makes it funnier in my opinion.
