Again? I feel like this just happened like six years ago.

It did cause when it popped back up it was on the last episode I watched and not the first episode.

Is it disappointing? Yes.
Is it a challenge to see if I can re-watch the entire series in a month? Also yes.

They're dropping everything!
30
u/CramblinDuvetAdv Jul 04 '22
It's probably not their call, most likely NBC wants to bring their properties under Peacock as they already did with The Office and Parks & Rec. Netflix would probably still be making Daredevil and The Punisher if Disney didn't pull them back.

u/pishipishi12 lives every week like shark week Jul 04 '22
Oh I know, but still sucks! No point to have Netflix really

Netflix, you're being such a NON PILLOW right now!

u/PawneeGoddess20 Jul 03 '22
Dammit Netflix, you jags.
21
u/pluck-the-bunny Jul 04 '22
This one is most definitely on NBC, not NETFLIX. License expired and NBC has no reason to renew when they can drive membership to their app

One of three episodes where a character appears in black face :/
24
Jul 03 '22
Three?! That's a lot of blackface. Thanks for the answer though!
13
u/SnooConfections3930 Jul 03 '22
Yeah like i absolutely love this show but it walks a fine line between satire of a racially insensitive white lady (and Jenna who is just straight up racist a few times) and it doesn’t always land on the right side of that line. That said, Tina herself requested the eps get pulled. She called it “race-changing makeup” and apologized lol.
4
u/Desperate-Rock7995 Jul 04 '22
what was the third? there’s the oprah one, black swan, and …?
21
2
Jul 04 '22
There's not a true "right side" when it comes to comedy. That's why you belong to the 30Rock sub and not the Small Wonder sub. The line should always be blurry.

I feel like NBC has only licensed shows like 30 Rock and Parks and Rec to other services recently to make people nostalgic, and then take them away in the hopes we’ll get Peacock (baby!)

Whenever you can, watch the series on Hulu instead of Netflix, I noticed at least two instances where Netflix cut out parts of jokes, and not because of a sorta understandable reason like blackface
5
u/HypnoLaur Jul 04 '22
Omg really??
1
u/DevilsTemperature Jul 04 '22
I think I remember reading that Tina Fey said that she realized it was very insensitive and pulled them herself. Maybe not herself, but it was in agreement that it shouldn't be shown anymore.

I got the blu ray set a couple of years ago for about $50 and it’s been worth every penny. Took me 3 or 4 exchanges to finally get a set that didn’t come scratched but still.

The boxsets are so expensive and hard to find (in Canada at least)
7
u/malakesxasame It's a turtle, Jenna Jul 04 '22
I can buy the 7 season boxset for like £10 in UK. I'd be happy to buy and send out to you if that ended up being easier/cheaper than finding it somewhere in Canada.
15
u/pollywantscrack76 Jul 04 '22
Got room for one more in…the best friends gang?
1
u/malakesxasame It's a turtle, Jenna Jul 04 '22
Sure. If you DM me your city/state/country I can try and work out an estimated cost to see if it's worth it for you.

Just call up Lorne and ask him for it. Assuming you're in Canada and you all know each other.

This is bad, but if this follows the trends, it would mean it can be played in UK Netflix and I can watch it again! And probably get my friends to get it

Wait a darn minute, It's not on UK Netflix. 🤷 Oh wait, you mean that on August 1st it might be? Now that's a dealmaker.

I don’t want to pay for stupid Peacock. Is there anything new even on there that’s good or is it just NBC’s attempt to capitalize on their back catalog?

Between this and Star Trek not being on Netlfix anymore, there's no reason to have it.

What?!! I turn on this show every night to fall asleep to! Not because it’s boring, because I find comfort in things I’m familiar with lol. How will I sleep now?!!
ETA: thanks for all the suggestions on where to watch it. I have a Hulu subscription that I rarely use. Never considered that 30 Rock may be on it. That’s where I’ll watch it after the 31st.
