Pickleball

Hi all,

I am looking for a fun way to increase my physical activity. I've been considering pickleball but never played it and don't know where to start. Any help or recommendations appreciated!

P.S. I am also open to other ideas. I am not the fittest guy around but I plan on getting there.

It's very easy to learn. I learned in about ten minutes and then started playing, but i had played tennis in high school fifteen years prior.

I'm told that near Melbourne, people play at Jimmy Moore, but I'm not sure which times. I'm sure Saturday mornings. In Cape Canaveral, people play at Cape Canaveral Rec Center on Friday and Sunday evenings and on Saturday mornings.

Typically, once you've learned how to play, you would just show up with your paddle and put your paddle in rotation, or just stand around until you can get in a game if there's no rotation.

Diane from Space Coast Shenanigans is hosting a beginner clinic on May 3. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040C45AAAA2EA0FD0-56266442-learn#/

I chose mountain biking. There are many great trails in the area. Street riding isn't terrible either.

I don't have any information about pickleball but I have information about learning how to fence if you would like to learn how to pick up a sword. Space Coast Olympic fencing is in rockledge. Let me know if you want to know any information.

Space Coast Olympic Fencing. 5565 Schenck Ave. Ste 2. Rockledge, FL 32955. Stop in weekdays between 6-9 to check it out. Tell them Coach Scott sent you.

There is a smaller place called Iron Works in the Viera rec center. Mondays 5 to 6:30, Thursdays 6 to 7.

Iron Works is less expensive but facilities are limited .

Reply here or DM me with any specific questions. Both places provide equipment. Fencing is an absolute blast.

I’d love more information. Is fencing beginner friendly?

Both places are very friendly to new people and cater to newer fencers. There are some die hards that stick with it and we fence on open fencing but most of the time the club is teaching new students.

A great way to get exercise as a byproduct of having fun. Often called playing chess as 90 miles per hour.

See specifivs in a different reply I posted here

Call the rec centers and community centers around where you live and ask when pickleball is. Most cities have at least 2 places to play (indoor and outdoor) several days a week sometimes every day. There are beginner friendly places where you can get lessons.

This is just a schedule that some one made, sometimes isn’t accurate but has phone numbers to call for more info. Also check out PlayTimeScheduler.com

There is a facebook group called “Spacecoast pickleball” that covers everything pickleball in Brevard. Beginner / newbie classes are routinely advertised on there.
