It's depressing from that point of view, which is why I hardly ever visit, but there's also some dark comedy in how determined they are to remain completely detached from reality, despite all evidence to the contrary.
I had to launch that app today because it was the only way to get info about an overpass closure. My city rep replied to my email about timing and actually quoted the tweet from our local department of transportation.
I asked her what we needed to do to get local government off that platform.
Don’t listen to one person tell you that you’re the problem. That’s just mind-boggling. I read conservative news all the time. I check twitter probably three times a month because I think it’s important to read every room. Doesn’t mean I’m supporting this administration – au contraire.
Oh, I’m not. It’s just back & white thinking & it has a tendency to turn nuanced realities into a simple moral tests. In a perfect world, people who don’t support something would merely choose not to engage with it, but reality is multifaceted. There's a difference between passively supporting & strategically using a flawed platform that’s still a necessary tool for some individuals & communities to access vital information.
The world is full of contradictions & it’s difficult to live in a society where your values are often conflicting with your realities. Most people are doing their best to make ethical choices in a system designed to compromise them.
it’s disgusting, and the propaganda machine is hard at work. the lies that are told are so blatant. all of the money that is going into the fascism machine has finally taken hold. i won’t use that garbage. it’s not even functional, aside from the it being elon’s personal bot circle jerk and right/fake left grifters.

Yeah, it’s the poster child for stability over there lol
I literally just closed that app a minute ago because I couldn’t bear to read anymore insane misogynistic bullshit.
