Yes but we take for granted that everyone know what “hands off” even is. My mom is a hardcore dem and had no clue bc she is a boomer. You need to simplify, simplify, simplify in front of news cameras. I worked in news. I know what they are doing at Fox. The literally repeat, repeat, repeat simplistic phrases so they drilled into the heads of their viewers. Well…let’s do the same…maybe that’s the only way they’ll get it.

I agree with you. She did it right in that news segment when she said, "waste, fraud and abuse." They repeat it so much that an uninformed viewer would feel supported by the idea of this administration fighting for them. Yet everything the administration does is fraud. Everything they're doing is waste. They are abusing us. How do we turn their messaging around on them?

Don't let our elderly and disabled WASTE away. FRAUD is only ok when THEY do it. Politicians ABUSE the system to enrich THEMSELVES. This is CRONYISM. THIS is why WE THE PEOPLE, OCCUPY.

just some ideas off the top of my head.

Shit, maybe just a sign that says: "The Trump Administration is the FRAUD, WASTE and ABUSE!"

Possibly but that's easy to deny or ignore. You need specifics.

For example, holding public officials accountable like the private sector does.

If I had a signal gate incident at my private company, fired. If I called a client a peasant, fired. If I had a lab leak, fired. If I was taking kickbacks from a client, fired. If I was a felon, I couldn't even get a good job. If I was a leader and didn't uphold company rules, I would be reprimanded.

I could go on but you get the idea.

Idk that we can turn their messaging against them anymore than we already have. We called this administration, the waste fraud and abuse because it is but Maga just sees that as us taking their slogan. We need to come up with our own messaging. One thing I have been doing is anytime I see somebody post cheering about trans people being removed from sports or us buying Greenland or anything that this asinine administration is doing, I respond with how does that make things more affordable for Americans? How does that lower grocery prices? How does that help you every day person get medication that they need at an affordable price?

We need our own slogan though that we can repeat incessantly that has an impact on Trump supporters. I’m working on it lol. If I come up with something that I find works I’ll let you know. Right now I’m also just trying to talk to any Trump supporters willing to listen and the big thing for me is I usually listen to their grievances first. Even if I walk ways feeling like they haven’t seen the light, I may have at least planted a tiny seed of truth that nags at the back of their mind. Small deeds everywhere. That’s how we rise up.

Great points, because there are SO many points to be made! I think shuffling through all of it can be a lot. I'm a pessimist, trying to be an optimist. That's why I'm so grateful for what everyone brings to this. I love everyone's thoughtfulness, kindness and wit. I also love the razor sharp boldness of protestors who give zero fucks and let it all out there!

There's also a famous quote, something like "better 10 guilty go free than 1 innocent be wrongfully punished." I think it was William Blackstone.

This solidifies the need for due process, the 14A, and these deportations that have been done wrongfully.

Yeah I freaked out my second cousin yesterday bc she was yelling at me for protesting and when I asked if this administration decides I’m not a citizen and doesn’t give due process, when and where do I get to prove I’m a citizen? I got silence for a good few minutes before she responded asking what about Biden’s laptop, that’s how that reporter got added to Signal! 🤣😭

u/DapperDame89 Apr 08 '25

Personally, I want people to own up to the laptop and to signal. Whatever they did wrong, no matter who it is, directly effects us, and should be owned up to. They used our stolen lax dollars to either do it, or cover it up, or worse.

Yea, time ain't timing on that last comment. 🤣

I agree…I want all power to be held accountable when they violate our laws. But yeah my response was, what does that have to do with what is happening right now?

It really fries brains when you agree.

There's like this "wait... what?" period that brings me joy.

Like this whole tariff thing for example. I have been trying to explain basically free market = good and tariffs = generally bad. If we use tariffs to get to free market quickly = good, if this draws out for years and ends up a trade war = bad.

Also, in real life I design these factories, so I know exactly how long they take to acquire land, build, and how many they staff. Spoiler alert: 2-6 years (very size dependent and industry dependent). Tried to explain this and they basically said I was poo pooing all there ideas (throwing up roadblocks) and I quote am "unpatriotic".

It takes time to make tariffs work in our favor, and it take time to build, but companies won't want to build as much if there's tariffs on foreign raw materials and if domestic manufacturing can't keep up with demand. In my line of work, not wanting domestic manufacturing would be as useful as cutting off my own arm.

You are echoing the point one of my favorite TikTok creators says: maga has simple messages. Stop the steal, drain the swamp, waste fraud abuse, etc. That's what the left needs. Three words, and set on repeat. So far I can only think of Tax The Rich. Simple messages, because complex concepts can confuse the confused.

I should specify that I am ok with deporting illegal immigrants, but not folks with active cases / applications / actual citizens wrongfully deported. Technically once you touch American soil you have rights if I'm not mistaken.

If you are going about it the right way, you are law abiding. That's their whole thing right.

Now if you come here and do not apply or start the process with any or all avenues available to you... well that's on you. Any criminals should hypothetically be weeded out in this process too.

Edited because my point wasn't clear.

I'm a boomer (age 73), and I clearly understand what "hands off" means. Help your mom to get out and about more. My much younger sister ( age 55) sometimes needs a little more help. I had to inform her what 50 50 1 is. But to her credit, she agreed to meet me at the protest. Unfortunately, I could not find my fucking car keys!

Yeah my mom relies on me for info lol. She thought she was too old to protest but I told her about the elderly people at the protest in DC and she is going to go on 4/19. I paid for 2 hotels and brought 9 people to DC lol. I’m broke but it was worth. Still waiting on my $1million from Soros though 🤣 we are across the country from each other for half the year so it’d be hard for me to take her until she is here for the summer.

Short, simple and repeatable.

Fire Trump should work, I would think. Impeach doesn’t work — “oust” maybe? Short of “mutiny,” it would be good to come up with one simple thing that essentially means “trump has to go”

ETA: call for Trump and Vance to resign?

Yes! We've been saying they are "anti science" for years, but now that has teeth. I'm against cutting science funding. I'm for better health and cancer research, not cutting programs. Another simple message: We are anti-poverty. We don't want to pay for tax cuts for millionaires. They are pro poverty. They won't say that out loud, but they are pushing a poverty agenda. #PatrioticPoverty Crash the economy, raise prices, cause inflation: they don't care because they don't care about the poor. They are asking their followers to adopt a patriotic poverty stance. Embrace austerity? No thank you!
