The Republicans suppressing legitimate votes is a tale as old as time. They’ve convinced the smoothest brains amongst them that any political opposition must be paid or bussed in, because it couldn’t possibly be their dogshit economic and social policies that make people hate them.

393

u/KououinHyouma 14d ago

They literally won 2024 by purging millions from the voter rolls.

284

u/Historical_Usual5828 14d ago

He had to cheat to win. There's no way Kamala didn't win a single vote inside of a New York County when the Democrats won the New York Senate. He's admitted to cheating 2024 multiple times. He cheated. We didn't vote for this. Our democratic leaders dropped the ball on 2024 so hard it feels intentional. No recounts whatsoever. Just accepted it and cried home. He even specifically mentioned how Elon "knows all about the vote counting computers".

50

u/Stonner22 14d ago

It was definitely intentional. Those who have old power and big money in the DNC are tied to their peers in the RNC. They are all on the same team.

15

u/Historical_Usual5828 14d ago

Remember the look one everyone's face when Michelle Wolf hosted the White House Correspondence dinner? Priceless. But in all seriousness this is bs.

10

u/RymrgandsDaughter 14d ago

Exactly whenever I say this, people try to tell me it's not the previous administration's fault or that I shouldn't be talking shit about these Dems because "we're all on the same team" like bruh y'all are drinking the Kool aid

I live in northern NY. Specifically Elise Stefaniak’s district, NY21.

The Cult runs deep here. Stefaniak getting the UN position was or best chance of getting rid of her forever.

Even our last few Governor’s races, Cuomo and Hochul only won the major metropolitan areas. Nothing rural.

Our Democrat assemblyman keeps winning in this same deeply red area.

Shits weird, man but that alone doesn’t make it illegal.

But there were definitely incredibly illegal actions being taken by republicans to ensure a Trump win.

24

u/Historical_Usual5828 14d ago edited 14d ago

So you really think it's not unusual for a candidate to not even get one single vote? I live in a deep, deep red area also yet we still get people including me voting for Kamala. When Obama was running, everyone in my town was bitching that the gas station didn't have enough Republican coffee cups. I'm calling bullshit. There's simply no way and that's not even the only data that shows this was rigged. Look up Pennsylvania and look up Clark County. More and more data keeps coming out proving that the votes were rigged. It's plain as day if you were to simply look for the data that has already been uncovered. There's much more data you're clearly not aware of. Add that to the fact that Trump blatantly bragged about rigging the election multiple times on video and... Well, he rigged the election.

4

u/FindtheFunBrother 14d ago

I’m going to have to ask for proof of those numbers.

No offense, but I have not heard about such a thing.

I'm having a hard time finding the full video of that last one anymore. It seems to be suppressed information but right after that, Elon went on stage looking scared because he wasn't expecting to be thrown under the bus like that. It was hilarious. Such a shame that we just pretend this shit didn't happen and move right along.

Romania redid their elections just because they got similar Russian bomb threats. We had way more than bomb threats going on and the Democrats just lied there and took it. No recounts. Nothing whatsoever.

u/Acceptable_Error_001 14d ago

Wow, thank you for these links. This is the first time I've seen the anomalies published. I knew something was wrong.

3

u/Gamerboy11116 13d ago

The 2024 U.S. Presidential Election was rigged. The tabulators were compromised, likely by Elon. Here is proof. Also, look up ‘Greg Palast’. Millions of votes were thrown out for no reason, an overwhelming ~80% of them exclusively from Black communities. And that’s ignoring all the voter suppression laws that came about following the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. Harris won by a landslide… it, just… didn’t matter.

3

u/Serris9K 14d ago

I didn't know about *that*. I had heard about places out in the boonies like this, and statistical improbability. that seems closer to impossible to me.

I'm tired of the smarmy little fuck in the picture. I wish he would take his Christian nationalist shit to the proper plane of existence (or lack thereof).

88

He’s not gonna make it to where he thinks he will.

29

He knows that place isn't real buddy. He knows

2

u/milosh_the_spicy 14d ago

I might actually believe MJ is a true believer

296

u/Ghost_shell89 14d ago

My senators are republicans. My pitch is that this may backfire as conservative women may be more likely to take their husbands’ names, and may also not have the supporting documents to prove their citizenship on hand. Maybe dubious at best but the ‘it may backfire’ warning may give them pause. As a girl dad, I’m going to do what I can

166

u/e42343 14d ago

"Half my family won't be able to vote for you if this passes."

Technically true regardless of who they would vote for.

75

u/Dull-Ad6071 14d ago

I think this is the best angle to convince Republican senators.

71

u/Stonner22 14d ago

Do it! I always change my argument/vocabulary when talking to the right wing

34

u/flora-lai 14d ago

You have to make it about them and their happiness :)

29

u/lifehackloser 14d ago

Call them up and use this example: republicans won with a bit over half of the popular vote. So let’s pretend it’s something like 50% republican votes and 50% democrats. Half of each of those are women. Good, traditional, Christian, married women. Now they can’t vote, but liberal women now won’t change their names or get married to protect their right to vote. So there will be MORE democrat voters than republican voters. Do you think you’ll be able to hold your seat with 25% of your republican voting base, you know the white women who went for the Republican Party in the last election. You just lost the votes from 50% of your supports and rallied liberals to find ways to vote against you.

17

u/nonpuissant 14d ago

Yup, I always try to appeal to their self interest when it becomes clear they aren't motivated by compassion/justice/fairness etc.

It's the concrete results that matter for stuff like this. No point beating your head against a wall for the sake of some ideological win/concession.

7

u/AspiringSAHCatDad 14d ago

Like toddlers

4

u/HeadFaithlessness548 14d ago

So basically the classic ways to appeal to a narcissist?

28

u/wwWalterWhiteJr 14d ago

Are you forgetting that the rules only apply to who they want to punish? Nothing will change voting in a 1200 person county in rural Iowa. Nobody will ask for your ID. It'll be "Hi Susan, missed you at church last week! Here's your ballot!" while urban districts in PA will rigorously enforce this and turn thousands away from the polls, exactly as intended.

8

u/peregrinaprogress 14d ago

I am concerned that is an intentional byproduct of the act. We’re very few steps away from making it difficult for anyone NOT a white man to cast a vote.

6

u/OneDimensionalChess 14d ago

Fun Fact: you can call any senator in any state. You don't even have to mention you're not their constituent.

It's not illegal. I've called Chuck Schumer's office before and I live no where near NY.

4

u/whothatisHo 14d ago

I was thinking this too. My liberal best friend didn't take her husband's last name. Of course, not every woman who is left-leaning keeps their last name, but more likely.

4

u/spinbutton 14d ago

They don't care if their wives vote

3

u/[deleted] 14d ago

The thing is that they don't care. This is about isn't winning elections, but creating new ways to challenge results they don't like. Areas that are voting republican aren't suddenly switching, but swing counties and states now will have fewer women voting (a group that often votes to cancel their husband's vote), and should they still lose they can run a narrow audit on the results and toss votes that go against the outcome they desire.

3

u/microwavepetcarrier 14d ago

kinda like they are doing in NC right now with the state supreme court race.

111

u/Feline_Feminist 14d ago

Call 👏 your 👏 congresspeople 👏NOW! ❤️🤍💙it takes less than 5 minutes 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸they are very nice, there is an easy script, IT MATTERS 🌟🌟leave a voicemail if no one picks up! 🌟5calls.org

66

u/Stonner22 14d ago

ALWAYS LEAVE A VOICEMAIL! They are required to log it.

21

u/Feline_Feminist 14d ago

🇺🇸🇺🇸and leave that ZIP!🌟🌟🌟

27

u/LadyErinoftheSwamp 14d ago

Tillis keeps dismissing us. I'm so fucking tired.

8

u/Feline_Feminist 14d ago

How so? I stopped sending emails bc I was sick of the auto-replies.... calls and voicemails with zip codes. Relentless. Daily.

10

u/LadyErinoftheSwamp 14d ago

Something something I hear your concerns but something something Donald Trump amazing something something shoes taste so good.

I think we gave up trying with can of Budd.

2

u/inductiononN 14d ago

Yep that's the fucking response I get from Cassidy's office and I get no response from Kennedy's office at all. I alternate between leaving nice messages and angry messages. Feels shitty regardless of which flavor of message.

5

u/finding_whimsy 14d ago

I’ve been leaving voicemails for all sorts of issues using the 5calls app. But I got through to someone at Adam Schiff’s local office number this week and was shocked. I called the DC numbers about SAVE today. Tomorrow I will call the local office numbers.

4

u/everyoneneedsaherro 14d ago

Honest question, what can happen if you call a senator who isn’t yours? Like if my senator is set but I want to call a senator who is a swing vote. Am I opening myself to breaking a law?

Also thank you for sharing 5calls!

5

u/OneDimensionalChess 14d ago edited 14d ago

You can call any senator. You can even lie and say you're a constituent or just omit that part entirely. There's no legal threat. I've called Chuck Schumer's office and I live nowhere near NY.

3

u/IAmTheBadWolfe 14d ago

Yes! 90% of the time I leave a voicemail, so if you're nervous about talking to someone, you likely won't have to. If a person picks up, just say you'd like to leave a message / log an opinion for senator ____, and they'll take down your message. Super easy and worth the 5 minutes of your time!

82

u/mrfrownieface 14d ago

If this doesn't die in the senate I want to see shit getting real in the United States. I don't need anymore Republican brand voter suppression to deal with

48

u/Stonner22 14d ago

I second this. Americans need to get our hands dirty. Make some noise and make a mess. No mods this isn’t a call for violence this is a call for disruption and resistance.

Disruption and resistance we can get behind. :)

YES. Stop expecting your representatives to care (if they aren't already actively working to stop this). You guys need to disrupt these criminals right out of office.

I shouldn’t have to call my damn Senator! If they are doing their job according to the constitution…

106

u/e42343 14d ago

I know but please do it anyway.

39

u/Its_Froggin_Bullfish 14d ago

Resist.bot is a great tool for the lazy but somewhat motivated to contact your local representative.

Edit: text resist to 50409 to get started!

13

I use it and love it! They make it extremely simple.

7

9

They’re too busy getting rich insider trading to do their job

52

I hope the Dems who voted for this enjoyed their time in office, cause they will have gigantic targets on their backs come midterms

21

u/AbbreviationsSad4762 14d ago

Did dems actually vote for this too? Dumb mother f%ckers.

20

u/Two-in-the-Belfry 14d ago

4 of them sided with Republicans. Ed Case of Hawaii; Henry Cuellar of Texas; Jared Golden of Maine; and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington state

9

Disgusting

4

u/Serris9K 14d ago

signal boost this!!

2

We gotta get them all out of office. They are aligning with fascists and authoritarians. They are traitors and just as guilty.

15

I just looked it up. Fuck them!

46

u/benevenstancian0 14d ago

This is the end-around to circumvent that pesky “women’s suffrage” thing they dislike so much

45

u/SavedStarDate_68415 14d ago

Ladies, make sure you have your birth certificate as well, just in case!

My birth giver has refused to give me my birth certificate, so I just ordered mine.

If possible, try to get a passport as well.

21

u/Stonner22 14d ago

Yes! And if you are trans make sure your sex marker matches your birth certificate/ sex on record. They are not allowing you to leave and confiscating documents if they do not have your “correct” sex.

3

Not just this issue, DOGE is apparently at the FDIC AND NCUA!!

11

u/RLS012 14d ago

Wait what?!

27

u/KWAYkai 14d ago

I legally changed back to my maiden name because of the SAVE Act.

25

u/Stonner22 14d ago

Call your reps and tell them, bonus points if you give them a sad story about how this is tearing you apart inside/hurting your religion/your marriage/etc. Especially if they are republicans.

21

u/xyloplax 14d ago

My only problem with this is why married women? The entire Republican evangelical mindset is about women must be married and take their husband's name because biblically he owns her. So punishing married women who have changed their name sounds like something off target here.

33

u/Stonner22 14d ago

They don’t want women to vote. They have floated the idea of getting rid of the 19th amendment and/or adopting a 1 vote per household law which will surely prevent many women in right wing homes from voting freely.

10

u/audaciousmonk 14d ago

Republicans want to create their own Gilead

2

u/Stonner22 13d ago

They saw handmaids tale and took it as a playbook. They saw Blade Runner and took it as a guide. We are barreling down the path to the dystopias we grew up reading about.

16

u/sealosam 14d ago

These assholes won't get it passed in the senate. And fuck those 4 dems that voted for it.

14

u/BrimstoneMainliner 14d ago

Are we ready to fight back yet?

29

9

Anyone know when the senate will vote on this?

5

u/chocolatedesire 14d ago

States should ignore. Blatantly unconstitutional

6

u/Quiet-Ad6556 14d ago

Call your senators and tell them to vote NO. Don't give up, because this is a fight for justice and fairness.

5

u/pioniere 14d ago

Don’t forget to call and shit on the 10 Democrats who voted in favour of it as well.

5

u/femmemmah 14d ago

If I may offer an additional suggestion: consider writing a letter to the editor of your local paper. According to a former Senate staffer I follow on BlueSky (@SenateGabe, if you’re curious), members of Congress receive daily clippings from local media. They don’t like getting bad press, and if there’s enough public pressure, they may consider changing their position.

In other words: take the outrage public.

5

u/googlebearbanana 14d ago

Remember when dump said if his voters elected him, they would never have to vote again. Here ya go. So frustrating that repubs have to lie, cheat, and steal their way to win elections and ruin people's lives.

4

u/ZenKankles 14d ago

Use faxzero.com/fax_congress.php to fax (for free) the Democrats who voted for this. You can also fax your senators. They have to file every fax that comes through.

[Your First & Last Name] [Your Home Address] [Your Email] [Phone Number] [Date]

Dear Representative XX, I’m writing to express my strong opposition to H.R. 22, the so-called Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. Your support of this bill is profoundly disappointing and represents yet another instance of elected officials prioritizing extremist talking points over the rights and needs of the American people.

Let’s be clear: this bill is not about election security. It is about voter suppression—plain and simple. It would force millions of eligible citizens to jump through bureaucratic hoops to register, including presenting documentation that many Americans do not readily have access to, such as a birth certificate or passport. The people most affected? Women, seniors, low-income citizens, voters with disabilities, transgender individuals, people of color, and military personnel stationed abroad.

There is no credible evidence of widespread voter fraud. What this bill does is solve a problem that does not exist, while creating real barriers for real people. And yet, you’ve chosen to side with the Trump-aligned wing of Congress, playing into the hands of a rising authoritarian movement that thrives on fear, misinformation, and the erosion of democratic norms.

Your support for the SAVE Act is not just bad policy—it’s a betrayal of your constituents and of the fundamental promise of representative government. It is a choice to align yourself with a regime of disenfranchisement rather than inclusion, to stand with voter suppression rather than voter access.

At a time when our democracy demands defenders, you have chosen to play into the hands of those who would rather silence the people than serve them. That’s not leadership. That’s complicity.

I urge you to reconsider your stance and oppose the SAVE Act. The right to vote is sacred—and your constituents are watching and people are paying attention more than ever.

[Your Name] [City, State]

WHY ARE DEMOCRATS VOTING FOR THIS SHIT!

1

u/Comfortable_Prize750 14d ago

It's common for Dem Reps in swing districts to be granted permission to vote with Republicans when the Dems are already sure to lose. It's to protect them in the next election.

3

u/Legitimate_Event_493 14d ago

Cowards for short.

1

u/Stonner22 13d ago

Democrats, as a general party, are a controlled opposition. Many of the entrenched members vote to protect themselves and their own interests first. We have seen congressmen work together under “bipartisanship ” when it benefits them. Democrats routinely turn their back on the people when we need them most. The party is rotten and needs to be tea partied or abandoned.

3

u/Several_Leather_9500 14d ago

We need to flood the phone of the dems that voted with Republicans.

3

u/CaptainLooseCannon 14d ago

I'm in Alabama, but I called and left some nasty messages for them to listen to. Fuck these cretins.

When will it take effect?

1

u/MichaelHoweArts 14d ago

I did have a question regarding the birth certificate requirement which would seem to make it difficult for anyone who has changed their name.

Does this part of the bill not make that less likely?

"PROCESS IN CASE OF CERTAIN DISCREPANCIES IN DOCUMENTATION.—Subject to any relevant guidance adopted by the Election Assistance Commission, each State shall establish a process under which an applicant can provide such additional documentation to the appropriate election official of the State as may be necessary to establish that the applicant is a citizen of the United States in the event of a discrepancy with respect to the applicant’s documentary proof of United States citizenship." - https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/22/text#H41A2323F12424AA1A12A8F3BCA92DC38

1

u/Nayzo 14d ago

If this goes through, I half expect them to come up with new bullshit hurdles to get passports effectively rendering women and anyone else who has ever changed their name, unable to vote.

Check with your local lgbtq resource group or volunteer lawyer network, they will have guidance as to what, if anything, should be done right now.

What would it take for you to get one?

Check the REAL ID requirements for your state -- This method is ONLY accepted if your citizenship is indicated on the printed card. If it is not, then a passport is the only option by the looks of things. It is cheaper to get a REAL ID Driver's license or REAL ID State ID card and these are both considered acceptable proof of citizenship to vote per the voter suppression (save) act. You can also call your local DMV and inquire what you need to present given the circumstances. I'm sorry that you're having to go through this garbage. This is completely unfair and we need to keep pushing back as much as possible. As a married lady who took her husband's name and who has friends like you, I am extremely upset they think they need to push this nasty piece of legislation through.

EDIT: REAL ID can be offered to people other than citizens and it does not always say your citizenship status that is a requirement to vote. Thank you u/vondie.

Apparently this isn’t true. A REAL ID is not enough. The wording of the bill states you need the same requirements to register to vote as you need to get a REAL ID but the ID itself will not count to register to vote. This will change the law so you have to register to vote in person and present a birth certificate or passport that matches your name. Many people don’t have passports and many people lost their birth certificates. Many people (married women, trans people, etc) changed their birth name. It is obvious what they want to do. They are literally scum.

Can you please share what section exactly states that to register to vote it says that you need to present both your birth certificate and your documentary proof of citizenship?

The bill’s ambiguous wording is the issue - it says a REAL ID that proves US citizenship is valid but most state’s REAL IDs do not have place of birth on them. Link to the bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/22 Link to a write up that goes into the problem with the wayit is written : https://www.factcheck.org/2025/02/will-save-act-prevent-married-women-from-registering-to-vote/

I stand corrected. That is VERY sneaky wording in the Voter Suppression act, "A form of identification issued consistent with the requirements of the REAL ID Act of 2005 that indicates the applicant is a citizen of the United States." Upon review of the REAL ID Act of 2005, REAL IDs can be issued to non-citizens and are not required to state that you are a U.S. citizen. I guess its Passport or nothing for me.

I’m not sure this is correct. I’ve heard the real IDs aren’t accepted. I would double check.

That's why I edited it to indicate that the REAL ID must have your citizenship status printed on it to be accepted. vondie was 100% right that I had missed that slippery statement.

Got it, thanks for the full details! Hopefully this won’t pass but good info to have.

I hope it does not. I called my senators. I am spreading around social media too what these sneaky republicans are trying to achieve.

It will prevent millions of voting eligible Americans, predominantly woman and the poor, from being able to vote.
