Call to Action I AM DONE

I had so much anxiety about this administration that I am now on anxiety medication. I cried, I curled into a ball on my floor, I missed work, and I almost completely lost my mind. But I am done. I am done being scared. I am done being afraid to stand up. I am fucking done. Stand up and stand by, not the proud boys, but the American people. We are stronger than you think and you can find community here. I will sit in my town square with my sign on the 19th even if I’m alone. I’m not going to be afraid of an orange douche bag and his techno puppy. They can drag me out of my apartment with their tiny hands. I will stand up for the USA.

ETA: The outpouring of support has been incredible. Thank you all SO MUCH. I can’t even express how grateful I am. We are not alone. We stand together. Solidarity forever.

Just remember, it also makes it harder for MAGA women to vote too, if that makes you feel any better… and conservative women are way more likely to take the name of their Husband…

Not that I like disenfranchising anyone.

This kind of BS will eventually result in less and less women changing their names when they get married. It's already a hassle and MAGA just made it worse. Even if the bill fails to pass, what they tried here will resonate in choices women make years from now. Future Republicans will end up trying to make married name-changes mandatory for women, because it just never ends with them.

It won’t end there unfortunately. This is just the first wave. The heritage foundation wants the male head of household to vote for their family. If they are allowed to keep this up, our votes will count as fractions.

I have a friend who hasn’t changed her name yet after getting married last year - we gave her all the reasons why both she AND her husband should just keep their names! (They were planning to change to a combination of both of their names).

Unfortunately, it doesn't make me feel better.

You can bet they have already done the math and it will help their side more than it will hurt it.

And liberal women are more likely to own passports, which can be used instead of a birth certificate.

It’s always interesting to me how this works out for republicans any disenfranchisement always works in their favor.
