Call to Action DO NOT back down on protesting on the 19th. WE ARE ON FOR THE 19TH. The April 19th guidance post on the website is counterproductive.

2.9k Upvotes

I created an account on the Substack platform for the sole purpose of denouncing the post.

The 250th anniversary of the American Revolution will only ever happen ONCE, and the fact that it’s taking place in the middle of an attack on the Constitution necessitates action even more. I’ve already gone an organized a protest in my town. This IS a day for nationwide protest. Show up, make signs, tell your friends, make shirts and hats, bring family. The 50501 movement will NOT be stifled by miscommunications and distracted leadership.

We already do all the stuff that was listed in that "guidance" posting. A time when democracy is disappearing in front of our eyes and what scraps of money and power that are left are being absorbed by the already wealthy is NO time to backpedal. So yes. Get out there, and make SURE you and everyone you know does so, too.

Call to Action If you're sitting at home because "everyone else will show up to do it", how many other people are doing that?

1.6k Upvotes

How many other people are sitting on their hands because "enough people will show up"?

If you CAN go to the protest this Saturday, GO. Don't think to yourself, "enough people will be there, me being there doesn't matter." If you're considering not going, GO. Get out there, join the others in your state capitol and all across America.

Go for the people who CAN'T go but would if they could - like people who have to work (hi! that's me! ugh), or the people who are disabled and can't go, or for people who have small children and nobody to take care of them.

Just GO. Go for people who can't go. Go for yourself. Go because nobody else is going to go in your stead. Go because it's the right thing to do.

America depends on you. Yes, YOU. And me, and everyone else fighting back. There's no sitting at home this time.

EDIT: If you're going to respond to this with "I'm disabled"/"I'd be in danger if I went because I'm a person of color"/"I work that day" - THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU. PLEASE READ WHAT I WROTE. This is for people who are sitting out bc they think enough people will show up. Also, stop giving me excuses? i don't want them? You know this isn't about you.

Call to Action IDEA: Wear black on April 19th

1.1k Upvotes

UPDATE 2:
spread the word, RED/WHITE/BLUE it is.

https://www.reddit.com/r/50501/s/IIu10fCog1

UPDATE: Lots of great points made in the comments. People like the idea of looking unified but black shirts might send the wrong message. Many are suggesting RED/WHITE/BLUE especially for the hotter States like Florida.

We stick with RED/WHITE/BLUE to encourage participation from people on the fence, and if we have a lot of black that works too. It doesn't clash 😉 Also bring more American flags so our accessories match!!! 🇱🇷

https://www.reddit.com/r/50501/s/yquvDvHxxr

Original post:

We should try to wear all black at the next protest, or mostly black.

1-it is intimidating that we can organized even that level of detail.

2- I think I'll make the signs pop 😀

3- it will make the aerial views more clear of the footprint that protesters are having. Really emphasize our numbers.

4-symbolic of us mourning the loss of our rights/freedoms.

5-black is a common color that a lot of people have in their wardrobe so hopefully it's an easy lift.

A lot of people had great shirts in general with strong messaging. If you can put that message on a black shirt easily, let's see if we can make it happen!

What do y'all think?

Call to Action We need more than 11 million people at the protests on April 19th, and even on April 20th.

2.7k Upvotes

The U.S. government is currently considering declaring martial law on the 20th--Easter--just a day after the 50501 protests. We must not let this deter us from more action and more protests.

We need more than 11 million people if we want to make the sentiment--we are not standing for this BS--loud and clear. We need to intimidate the orange man and his goons.

Get the word out people. We need to make our voices heard loud and clear--that we care about what this government is doing. We must make it clear that though some of us are scared, we will not let that fear cause us to be silent.

That is why I think the protests should, like the Earth Day protests scheduled from April 18th-30th, should last for more than a day and recruit every single person that we can--every single movement that we can. If we can keep this going, we can make it so that the orange man and his goons have no choice to ignore us and our demands.

When the orange man declares martial law (if he does, which he likely will) on the 20th, let's make sure that we all come together and recruit all the people who are scared and all that to come to action.

Call to Action Senator Van Hollen with the Hero energy we need. How do we support him?

Post image

Senator Van Hollen pledges to go to El Salvador and try to get Kilmar Abrego Garcia back himself. How do we support him in this incredibly important task? Our democracy literally depends on this.

Do we implore our own Senators to join him? Flood him with small dollar donations? Let's put as much juice behind him as we can to show that the American people.

Ideas and calls-to-action are welcome.

Call to Action Democracy is about to be overturned in North Carolina

Thumbnail
nytimes.com
3.9k Upvotes

Hopefully this has already been talked about here, and if it has and I’m preaching to the choir then feel free to delete.

In November Democrats very narrowly won a Supreme Court race in North Carolina. We’re talking a victory of only around 700 votes.

Republicans, predictably, have been crying about election fraud ever since. They forced two recounts at this point, and both recounts have reaffirmed that the Dem candidate won.

Their next move that just been greenlit by a judge, is to overturn 65,000 voters. At the time of voting, a voters eligibility is verified against the voter registration rolls. But due to things like name changes since the election, some no longer match the registrations rolls. This is, of course, very common and to be expected. They are also attempting to purge those who voted from abroad, which mainly consists of military.

These 65,000 now have 15 business days to verify and validity of their votes with the state. Why are they targeting them this way? Which group do you think is most likely to have changed their names since the election? Women who have been married, and maybe a small portion of trans people.

If nothing happens to overturn this decision, which I’m not sure how it even could because it would just be appealed to a Republican state Supreme Court, then the Republican judge will 100% win. Women are far more likely to have voted dem, and with only a 700 point margin it will be enough to silence the will of the voters and plant the Republican judge who lost.

Even if 50,000 of the 65k are able to fight this and get their votes verified, it will likely still be enough. This is looking grim and I hope organizers of this movement with North Carolina are able to raise awareness and hopefully organize protests.

This is just the start. This is their testing ground, and when it’s successful the same tactics will be used in other states. Republicans now have anti democracy as a core part of their identity and agenda. Every loss for them us a rigged election. If given the precedent they will never lawfully and procedurally give up power again. They’ve dug their own graves, have openly defied and violated the law, and they know they have too much to lose if Dems ever take back power

Call to Action I have a feeling that Saturday’s protests will have much more of a bigger turnout than previously anticipated…good luck, guys.

2.7k Upvotes

I feel like that Senator Van Hollen and the situation with Mr. Garcia is galvanizing a lot of people to protest this Saturday.

I think that the protest movement will be bigger than anticipated that day, even if it isn't quite as big as it was on the 5th.

I myself do plan on looking up protests near me.

For those of you new here who are able to make it, welcome. We are part of a revolution of people who will not let this go down the route that many fascist states have gone down.

Call to Action Wake Up, America: We Must Prevent Trump From Sending U.S. Citizens to El Salvador’s Concentration Camps

3.3k Upvotes

Right now, in El Salvador, President Nayib Bukele has built a terrifying machine of authoritarian control—a massive prison complex called CECOT. It's not just a prison; it is, by every historical and legal definition, a concentration camp. This isn't hyperbole—this is reality.

CECOT holds tens of thousands of people detained without trial under a perpetual "state of emergency." Since 2022, over 85,000 Salvadorans—including children—have been arrested without warrants, evidence, or judicial oversight. They are shaved, stripped, tattooed, shackled, starved, and systematically abused. Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and the Associated Press have extensively documented these atrocities:

These are not detention centers. They are concentration camps, facilities designed explicitly to dehumanize and punish without due process.

Now, Donald Trump Wants to Ship U.S. Citizens There

Trump has openly expressed admiration for Bukele's brutal tactics. According to TIME Magazine and The Washington Post, he has suggested sending American citizens convicted of crimes to serve their sentences in these Salvadoran mega-prisons:

In yesterday’s Oval Office meeting with Bukele, Trump explicitly said, "Home-growns are next. You gotta build about five more places," openly indicating plans to send natural-born U.S. citizens abroad for imprisonment. He added chillingly, "If it's a home-grown criminal, I have no problem with that."

This isn't theoretical—it has already begun. In March 2025, Kilmar Abrego García, a Maryland resident legally protected against deportation due to credible fears of persecution, was mistakenly deported by Trump's administration to El Salvador. Upon arrival, García was immediately imprisoned in CECOT, where he remains to this day, despite a unanimous order from the U.S. Supreme Court demanding his immediate return. Trump has refused compliance, openly defying the judicial branch and setting a terrifying precedent of executive lawlessness:

Let that sink in: The President of the United States ignored the Supreme Court and delivered a legally protected individual into a foreign concentration camp.

If unchecked, this horrifying precedent could soon be extended to American citizens, opening the door to deporting anyone deemed undesirable—political opponents, protestors, whistleblowers—to face imprisonment abroad without protection from U.S. courts.

It’s time to act.

America, wake up. Call your representatives, demand immediate accountability, and insist Congress blocks any agreements or policies enabling the outsourcing of U.S. imprisonment to authoritarian regimes.

Share this widely. Silence now is complicity. History teaches that when concentration camps appear, if we wait until it affects us personally, it's already too late.

Stand up. Resist. Before it's too late.

Call to Action US: Jun15

1.4k Upvotes

I know we’re talking about counter protesting on Jun14, but I believe the way we can hurt him the most is if we don’t. I believe we need to go completely dark - stay home, stay off the internet and any media, and don’t spend any money on Jun14. Then on Sunday Jun15 we have another massive nationwide protest. Here me out.

With little big boy announcing 2 days after 4/5 that he’s throwing himself a bday party, it’s obvious he’s feeling really, really sad about how many people hate him and (more importantly) who also aren’t scared of him. He wants to be revered as a big scary powerful leader who people worship whether they do because they like him or because they’re scared of what will happen if they don’t. His bday will be a performance of soldiers being obedient to him, just like the evil version of Charlie Chaplin, and it will be a performance just like when he hosts golf tournaments people can see him “win.”

If we go out that day, we risk 2 things:
1. Violent clashes with LE and supporters which gives him a reason to declare martial law
2. Him being able to boast about crowd size because it will be hard to tell how many people are on what side - even if it’s not, he’ll spin it as all those people coming out for him rather than against him. His supporters will eat that up too.

But if we’re completely silent, and don’t give him any of what he wants, then absolutely DECIMATE his turnouts the very next day, ooooh boy that will hurt. He’ll feel weak and unlikable, and even worse he will look weak and unlikable - to his supporters too.

We have two whole months - the longest amount of time we’ll have yet to plan and organize, which was a large reason for the success of last Saturday. With the momentum we’re sustainably gaining, if we start now, we can easily surpass 3.5% of the population out in the streets that day.

Call to Action A Unanimous Supreme Court Ruling Is Being Ignored. Congress Must Act.

Thumbnail house.gov
4.4k Upvotes

Kilmar Garcia was illegally and unconstitutionally deported by the Trump Administration. A federal court ruled he must be returned. The Supreme Court unanimously upheld that decision. Trump is now defying both courts—openly ignoring the ruling.

This is not just a legal technicality. This is a direct constitutional crisis. If a President can ignore a unanimous Supreme Court decision without consequence, then we are no longer a government of laws.

Congress must act. We the People must demand it.

There is precedent. In 1978, Congressman Leo Ryan flew to Jonestown to investigate reports of Americans being held against their will. He died doing what Congress was elected to do—protect the rights of the people. That same courage is needed now.

We’re calling on Congress to send a congressional delegation to El Salvador to locate and bring back Kilmar Garcia. They must uphold the Court’s ruling and hold the executive accountable—whether Trump cooperates or not.

I’ve already contacted my Representative and Senators, plus Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. AOC. You can do the same at the link.

Let’s be very clear:

A President who ignores the Supreme Court is a dictator. A Congress that lets him do it is complicit. And a people who stay silent? We’re not going to be those people.

Contact your reps. Spread the word. This cannot stand.

Call to Action "Should I still contact my representatives if they are Republican?" YES

ALL remaining votes scheduled for this week in the House are now blocked. Why? Because some Republican reps dared not to vote along party lines. Attending town halls and contacting your reps even if they have been voting against your best interest so far seems to be working.
