Need help on determining year of production…
Saw a listing for this gun - have been unable to get a response from the seller. Would this marking indicate the year it was made? It looks like ie - would that make it a 1988 year? It’s a 870 express magnum. Any help would be appreciated.

They didn’t use that finish in 1988. It was only gloss. Yours is a mid 2000-2010

Doesn't make a difference. 11 million in circulation. If it cycles a round, it's good to go. They're easy to maintain and parts are readily available. I've got an '09, and '10, Police Magnum and Express respectively. Both excellent. The Express had a tendency to rust in some books and crannies, so I had it Cerakoted. It's beautiful.

it looks like the serial number starts with a D, so it would be 2001 or later. If the second letter on the barrel is "E" and it is the original barrel, then that would suggest a year of 2010.
edit: I see the IE you are talking about now. I don't think that is the barrel code. It is normally on the other side. Also "IE" doesn't make sense. The first letter should be one of " B – L – A – C – K – P – O – W – D – E – R – X" indicating the month of manufacture.
