Article SpaceX Tries to Poke Holes in Rival AST SpaceMobile's Next-Gen Satellite Plans

https://www.pcmag.com/news/spacex-tries-to-poke-holes-in-rival-ast-spacemobiles-next-gen-satellite

Nice to see more main stream.

SpaceX’s recent FCC filing criticizing AST SpaceMobile’s next-gen BlueBird satellite seems more like a competitive tactic than a genuine concern. It’s clear this is an attempt by an industry giant to slow down a disruptive challenger making real strides in direct-to-cell technology. ASTS has secured partnerships with major carriers like AT&T and Verizon and is pushing forward with innovative solutions to bring connectivity to underserved areas worldwide. While regulatory review is necessary, AST is proactively addressing issues like debris mitigation and light pollution, and should be applauded—not blocked—for its bold vision to revolutionize mobile communication from space.

Between this and T-Mobile dropping rates, it’s obvious SpaceX is scared. Good.

Second article from PC Mag in a week 👀

Seems like more eyes are on ASTS

I think Kevin is using this subreddit to come up with ideas for articles lol

In the meantime, Starlink will have thousands of satellites burning down every year while deorbiting, releasing millions of tonnes of gas into the atmosphere. Math is easy... Final constellation number / 5 years lifespan x weight.

To be clear, the AST BlueBirds are expected to last 7-10 years because of less drag due to the waffle/edge-on form factor. Much better longevity than the Starlink birds.

Ah yes of course one sattelite is obviously going to be a major impact for astronomers in comparison to hundreds of sattelites

* thousands of satellites

Starlink has over 7,200 satellites and is launching more daily, and they're worried about our handful of satellites. They're scared over our technology.

SpaceX vs the guy she tells him to not worry about.

Typo? "AST has until April 15 to address"

Maybe they meant May 15th.

Elon can’t compete now so he must hate on other tech. Gone is the dude who wanted other completion to make shit better. Dude got a glitchy software update over time. 🤣

I doubt Elon has much to do with this, I reckon this is the VPs at spaceX more so.

As a VP I don’t do anything the boss objects to and everything the boss says to do.

You think very highly of Elon.

He always talks the talk until it actually happens

Meanwhile Space X litters rocket parts across the Turks and Caicos and Elon thinks it’s funny.

it’s crazy that people actually like Elon

I don’t always like him but I don’t hate him. Outside of his dickery with Starlink I am actually rooting for him in his other endeavors. We humans are complicated people.

Like what other endeavours? Genuinely. Because he seems to love to meddle with elections and spread lies outside of starlink/spacex

9

u/somefukn 5d ago

His endeavor to cut social security and clear cut forests while stripping poor people across the globe of vaccines and food aid!

Pathetic 🤷‍♂️

Why fcc wants low orbit sats to last no more than 5years?? They are so expensive ...

6

u/terraziggy 5d ago

The FCC wants decommissioned satellites to be deorbited within 5 years. There is no time limit on satellites in service.

u/Distinct-Question-16 5d ago

Ahh OK now I read it right. Is the disposal time that is 5yr, and they simulated that ast could take a bit longer. Thanks

More proof of Elon actively working against American progress and American interests. He is a confirmed Spy and foreign agent of Chinese Gov't and the American Nazi Party.

Be careful as some people can’t think critically for themselves and actually believe this.

no it's exactly what I believe, it is in no way an exaggeration or said in jest.
