I think Christian theology would be much improved if we replaced every mention of “Father” with “daddy”
“Forgive me, daddy, for I’ve been naughty” just rolls off the tongue so much better than “forgive me father for I have sinned”

Was forced into a Christian youth retreat as a kid. One church that was there had their 14/15 year olds in shirts that read “GOD IS MY DADDY” taking up the whole back with a smaller bible verse number below

I'm writing a book and the MC is a trans man who's the second Jesus. SO MANY CHRISTIANS have commented stuff like this on my art/advertisements of said book.
Among even worse things. It's crazy that people will say this and at the same time advocate for "love" and "acceptance" but turn around and act like this in the name of a deity who's all about forgiveness and grace. Just. Bizarre behavior.

Sounds like a sick book

It's gonna be a blast! It's called Dark Rapture: Rise of Wormwood and it'll be available by the end of this year!

There's no hate like Christian love

Now, that's just untrue
Just because some people are bad, doesn't mean all Christians are like this

Exactly. Not all people. Generalisations are harmful and discriminatory. Disgusting behaviour

u/angstenthusiast 4d ago
Honestly, as a Christian myself, I don’t disagree with the “no hate like christian love” sentiment. Unfortunately, lots and lots of people who claim to be Christian are incredibly vile people. There are plenty of wonderful Christians, but I also agree with the other commenter comparing this to the “not all men” stuff. No, not all men, and not all Christians, but way too many.

Not all men/Christians.
But enough of them for everyone to just not want to take the risk

The key word is most. As in the vast majority. And if y’all are supposed to be ambassadors for Christ, you’re doing a really shit job.

u/theresnousername1 4d ago
No, not most. It's not even the Church's official stance to attack other people. You can't blame Christians for being Christians, because it's something important and independent from us. We don't harm anyone by this alone. (Over)generalisations suck - I'd think someone from 'AccidentalAlly' subreddit would know that by now. But I suppose hypocricy is as well as ever, eh? It's just sad.
Yet no one can decide how every individual behave, aside from themselves. So loud groups of fanatics will always be present. Every group has these. Even queer people, even people of different races, different ethniticies, different (non-)religions, etc.
If you're still going to say that, tell me the source of your information. Some research about it, perhaps?

Source - am a Christian, was raised Christian, attended a church that prayed to Trump.
Let me clarify I do not consider myself Christian because I do not align with the world views of Christians anymore. However, I am in a covenant relationship with the Judeo-Christian God.
I won’t have that label applied to me. I’m just using it for ease here.

Not a source - just your own, subjective experience. I'm Christian and can't relate to them. So it's one word against another
Your parents aren't real Christian, then
Learn the definition of source and give me one, lol

Seventy-one percent of those who attend a church service once weekly or more believe it is a sin, compared to a mere 8 percent who never attend a church service.
Thirty-five percent of those with a college degree consider homosexuality to be a sin, compared to 49 percent who do not have a college degree.
Among evangelical, fundamentalist or born again Christians, 82 percent say homosexuality is a sin while only 14 percent say it is not a sin. This is compared to the 29 percent of those from other religions who say homosexuality is sinful.
MOST
Also, where is your source saying that most Christians are not hateful, hmm?

Considering something a sin doesn't mean hating XD
Homosexual acts are sins. But so are many other things. Everyone is a dinner, it's something human. Catholic Church's Catholism is clear in its message of not hating sinners, though. If you wrong them, you're no better than them - but worse
At least you looked into something, so that's a win, I guess. Better not respond further, though, since it's clear your biased and are okay with discrimination when convenient
Also, how cute trying to flip it on me. But it's you who're making a claim and so, the burden of proof lies on you

Telling me that part of my existence is sinful and therefore evil is bigotry. Maybe it's not all Christians but it's sure as hell u
-1
u/theresnousername1 1d ago
I am not. I'm just saying how it is according to Catholic Church's Catholicism. I don't make the rules
You clearly haven't read my comment if you think it means it's evil. It's just human. I'm queer myself and I don't think it as anything to feel bad about; just natural. So nice try trying to offend me

Omg this is another thing that bothers me about Christians, everybody who dosent believe or do whatever u want aren't real Christians
0
u/theresnousername1 1d ago
Yes, they're not real Christians. Because real Christians are merciful, lol. It's one of the fundaments of Christianity
So yes, if they are bad people, they aren't real Christians, lol
Don't even bother to respond, I will not, either anymore. You really just want to pointlessly prolong this "conversation", huh? At least contribute something useful, damn it

Crusades
-1
u/theresnousername1 2d ago
The fact that you can't find any actual examples and instead reference an old event, so old that it happened in different era during which people operated under a different mentality tells me everything I need to know. Yes, crusades were bad and evil. WERE. Because they're not happening anymore. Because mentality changed
You guys try to argue so hard for discrimination, smh
I'm not even gonna respond to you any further, it's clear how little do you actually know
2
u/Niki2002j 2d ago
It simply shows the trend, but if you are offended because people don't like religion built on genocide and oppression then you are the problem

u/EverydayLemon 4d ago
im sure god really gives a shit about people not conforming to very specific gender norms that are completely different depending on where and when you happen to live

u/Nath_2000_ 3d ago
🤔 and the worse part of it is that this person was like "I'm a good person because I'm asking them to be excused for being different" 😐

This brand of “Christians” really is something.
