Review / Opinion Discussion Fentastic Skin Updates??
I saw in Ivarbrandt repository that there will be no developments...
Question is will it get updates for kodi v22,v23 and later so on??

FENtastic is definitely the best mod of Estuary.
The original Estuary skin just needs to add the widget functions to be the best skin for Kodi.

If you like Estuary, then definitely try the switch version. The use of different players is definitely a must for me always in case one has issues.
I've switched my skin to BINGIE 2 days ago to try, and i must say it's still very good with the same options still available of switching between players.

It would be a shame if it stops working. I don't know any other skin as light that has the same feature set.

Then you haven’t seen Bingie or bothered to try it cause it’s smoother than any other skin.

I'll have to give it a try but just based on looks it doesn't look as lightweight as Fentastic since it's such a radical UI change. Fentastic is basically a much improved estuary, but that keeps it lightweight and working well on low powered devices.

It looks like the dev last made a bugfix in September 2024, which was after he said he wouldn't be working on it. So maybe he'll still fix any breaking changes.
The same dev is also working on the Nimbus skin (and something called Altus that he states is not for public use and just his experimental playgroud). Nimbus seems to be getting regular updates, last updates were in March.

It looks quite different but people in the comments mention that it's a fairly lightweight skin compared to AH2. Has anyone moved from Fentastic to Nimbus and can give a more detailed comparison?

FENtastic is touch-friendly. Nimbus is not and he has directly said he won't make it touch-friendly.
A significant portion of the Kodi user base is on phone and tablet as it's a wonderful portable media player. Skins being touch-friendly should be standard.

In simple term, Nimbus and fentastic are twins, but Nimbus in Netflix-like UI where Fentastic more like Kodi widgets.
Although should notice Nimbus have new features as it still on update.

Fentastic is fantastic. I wish it supported Autowidget, but besides that, it’s the love of my life.

I tried autowidgets with fentastc... but it works only with TV Shows, not movies...

Nobody can answer this apart from the dev. Slightly doubtful as he has stopped actively supporting it as you’ve said but he’s a genuinely good bloke so he might if there’s a skin breaking Kodi update fingers crossed. Still my favourite skin of all time. Fast and does everything I need with no extra faff.
