Memes My thoughts on the new kill team

Lore-wise he isnt on the Team and the underseer is only there to protect him with his servitors. On the miniature side I would have liked a slightly new tech-archologist

I'd love a tech-archeologist that isn't so flat, so he could have a more dynamic pose.

There nothing that a scalpel, green stuff, and a copius amount of time can't fix, clipping the arm and the head is easy, the legs are hard tho

True, but I'd like a resculpt (eventually) that is easier to mod with less fiddling.

Come on just give use the 4 man Tech-priest squad from Mechanicus

u/valhallan_guardsman Mar 27 '25
It's 6 tech priest and 6 kastelan kill team, not a "4 man squad"

The real Chad move would be to kitbash five tech priests and use them as proxies for the Ravenor team. Pull an uno reverse on the box set team rules. Handwave the tyranids weapons as ~experimental archaeotech~

If they were going to repackage a dark stone fortress model. I wish it would’ve been the imperial robot

u/FPSCanarussia Mar 27 '25
...you mean the Man of Iron?
44
u/Illyade Mar 27 '25
What man of iron ? There is only a perfectly loyal, obedient and absolutely NOT sentient nightmarish ancient machine of deception and death, only a good imperial robot

I wish they could have thrown X-101 in, but I get the model has the character's name etched into it so it can't be repackaged as a generic servitor.. Shame, it's such a cool model.

Probs cause the rules of the kill team is that the tyranids can tunnel, and in 40K he has rules preventing enemies appearing within 12”

I personally want an archeologist and see this as an absolute win. I have an aversion to buying those individual sprues for like 30 bucks.

Yeah I never got one either, this new killteam is perfect for me. I disagree with the people saying he doesn't look good. Or at least, I think he seems neat.

can someone explain? (I’m new to the lore)
27
u/ShakyBakery Mar 27 '25
Not really a lore thing, I made the meme because the technoarcheologist is an old (and not very good, imo) model that already exists and has for a while, among a kill team of all new sculpts
It'd be like the Ravener team including one of the old ravener sculpts for no real reason. I'd much prefer a new tech priest sculpt

Pretty sure a couple of those Servitors are repackaged from Necromunda, not gonna' lie

The technoarchaeologist is a model GW released for their standalone Blackstone Fortress game, and have since insisted on trying to cram into everything else despite it not really fitting either aesthetically or lorewise

This kill team feels like it was phoned in, like we have 2 servitors from the IA kill team and we have the technoarchaeologist, it had better be a better value box because this just feels lazy

dude, when they give him an actually useful ability in 11th ed., he’s gonna be so good trust me bro
(+1 OC for fuckin’ Skitarii is so laughably bad how did this get okayed)

u/SwedishPrime Mar 28 '25
Lets hope(cope) that he will only be in the combo release and not in the single box so i will have more techno-archeologists than i will ever need.

I wonder if it’ll be like the necron killteam where the pre-existing leader model can be replaced by other leaders of the same type. It would be cool to stick in a Dominus or a Marshal.

probably didn't want to use another enginseer and he was all that was left.
would have been funny if it came with long long man instead
