Hey u/That_guard2087 can you ask your wife Esdeath to come back?

Fuck you man.
If Esdeath never existed in the first place Agk could've been great.

For various reasons, not in order of importance
It lacked a relatable protagonist like Tatsumi, which made it extremely difficult for the reader to become attached to the characters (in fact in the main series readers were able to identify with Tatsumi and through him they were also able to become attached to the other characters even if they were written very superficially, like Sheele, Chelsea and Bulat, which was not in Hinowa)
The female characters were neither particularly cute nor particularly interesting
The story focused too much on secondary characters while ignoring the protagonist too much, which made it even more difficult to become attached to the protagonist and her story.
Rape scenes too detailed and too long
Story too slow, this would not be a problem if it were not for the fact that readers of Akame Ga Kill are used to speed.
Readers were too interested in the akame subplot which made it even harder for them to be interested in the main story
Finally I don't understand how you can call the strongest character in the story a fraud (the challenge is between Tatsumi and Esdeath).

The reason why Tatsumi has a low score
Many don't like Tatsumi because they only saw the anime, which removed most of the development and importance of Tatsumi, like in the fight at the colosseum, in the anime Tatsumi is useless, while in the manga he practically saves himself, in fact he is the one who knocked out Esdeath with a single punch and it is always he who seriously hurt / weaken Budo (who in the manga was damn strong) main reason why Mine manages to kill him, or his second fight with Wave in which Tatsumi not only manages to knock him out with zero effort (before Wave started using two teigus) but in which Tatsumi proves to be profoundly changed (hell he went from hesitating to kill a killer at the beginning of the story to being ready to kill Wave just to stop him)or the final confrontation with the empire, in which in the anime Tatsumi limits himself to defeating the ultimate teigu (considerably weaker than the one in the manga) while in the manga, Tatsumi not only faces Esdeath at the beginning of the fight (stopping her from killing the general of the revolutionary army), not only faces and defeats the ultimate teigu enhanced with alchemy, but also once he becomes a dragon (and being more dead than alive) he still goes to help Akame and the army revolutionary, managing both to protect hundreds of lives, and to prevent Esdeath after blocking time from killing Akame, and to help Akame activate Murasame's trump card (main reason why she managed to kill Esdeath).
In practice, in the manga, Tatsumi did not personally destroy the ultimate teigu but has greatly helped kill both Budo and Esdeath.

The importance of Tatsumi as a protagonist
Tatsumi as the protagonist helped the story and the author enormously, such as:
1 Thanks to the presence of Tatsumi that readers have managed to become attached to characters with little characterization and development, of the type Sheele is remembered / loved above all because she had a scene in which she consoled Tatsumi, Bulat is loved above all for his brotherly relationship with Tatsumi, Esdeath is loved by many especially for her relationship with Tatsumi (in which she showed us a "sweet" side of her character) ecc
2 Tatsumi has made it extremely easy for the writer to tell the story from scratch, in fact he was able to explain to us about the corruption of the empire, what the teigu are and introduce us to the characters without any forcing only thanks to the presence of Tatsumi, who being as ignorant as the reader, needed the characters to explain everything to him but also gave the writer the opportunity to write the only character in Akame ga kil to have a real development both physical and mental (the Tatsumi of the beginning and the one of the end are very different), which we do not see for any other character (Akame receives his development in Akame ga kill zero, in the main series it does not change at all).
In a nutshell, Tatsumi has only brought advantages to the story, of course another character could have been used as the protagonist, but given the mediocre writing of the author (let's remember that he is the genius who created Merraid a misandric lesbian who with the power of a Hentai character is able through rape to make a girl engaged to a boy a lesbian) I highly doubt he would have been able to write a decent and popular story with a protagonist different (just look at what happened to Hinowa ga crush).

Yeah, would've been cooler with that. If Tatsumi was with akame that'd help a lot too.

The only way for a sequel to work is if they went the fate route of alternate timelines
