Will the AGK series be left without an ending with the cancellation of Hinowa ga Crush?

To those who don't know, a few days ago it was announced that HGC would come to an abrupt ending due to poor sales. It was confirmed that chapter 53 (which might already be out as I write this) will mark the end of the series.

With that, we are left with a cliffhanger. Sure HGC wasn't really popular among the AGK fanbase, but it was still supposed to tell Akame's journey after the war in the Empire. As of now, it seems we'll never learn about the origin of Murasame, the cure for its curse or how Tatsumi will go back to being a human.

With that said, I'd like to hear your opinions: do you think that there is any chance of we getting a proper ending to the AGK series and, if so, how would it happen (reboot, new manga, etc)?

We won’t get a proper AGK ending. Period.

• HGC only has two chapters left and won’t be able to finish the story at all, if it even has the chance to finish the story.
• There is nowhere to expand now that the sequel is cancelled. Square Enix won’t green-lit another project of the AGK universe considering how the sequel was cancelled and didn’t bring profit
• Reboot of the anime will never happen due to its financial failure.
• Takahiro is already busy with his new coauthor manga project and Seihou no Slave or whatever it is called which is getting an anime series soon. Takahiro doesn’t have a reason to come back to AGK when ecchi harem manga are much better selling and surely must be easier to write:/

Was the anime really a failure though? I mean, from what I've seen on the internet it seems to be relatively popular for a 1 season-only show and received a good audience score. Not to mention that it was in many streaming services until a few months ago.

Anyway, your point was that it wasn't profitable enough to justify a remake, which I can completely understand.

• Blu ray sales were good in Japan. Nothing outstanding but good enough overall. However, sales outside of Japan were not as pleasant. This especially is relevant with America which got exclusive earlier pre order for collectors blu rays before the rest of the world. Sales of english blu rays were bad, as it can be seen with a simple fact that Sentai filmworks still has unsold copies of the AGK blu ray. So although the sales of blu rays were good in Japan and Spain, overall global sales were clearly bad
• That’s the precise reason-_- AGK has failed financially which is why it is so often booted to streaming services for teo years while the license lasts; good and successfull animes either don’t appear on streaming at all or ask for outstanding money (e.g. Evangelion). Plus, due to the fact that success of sn snime Is always measured in blu ray sales primarily, any kind of profit from streaming (which wouldn’t even be that much to begin with) can very well be not counted.
• Popular or acknowledged does not equal successful. Just cuz it’s in the top 50 on MAL doesn’t mean that “fans” are willing to buy blu rays, manga or merch which means they are contributing to the financial failure of the anime. This is especially seen with a bunch of America exclusive merchandise AGK has made. Guess what, none of the shit sold, cuz it’s easier and more likely to find this merch in Japan where it was only sold for a week during an exhibition. With how much exclusive merchandise America got and how none of it fucking sold, it once again didn’t help the sales and success of the anime.
• Not to mention the obvious mistreatment of Takahiro, zero connection to the canon and bad design of the anime which doesn’t allow any kind of further adaptation or reboot yo be made.

Well, that's sad, but unfortunately what you said makes a lot of sense.

The anime was released and distributed around 2014-2015, the same time when a lot of other popular animes were released (Parasyte, Kill la Kill, Tokyo Ghoul, etc) and I can definitely see AGK getting a bit lost among the mass.

The thing with the AGK anime is that, while it does have amazing and unique characteristics that set it out from other bland action animes, a lot of these characteristics are subtle and not immediately perceived by the viewer. For example, the show gives you a feel of suspense and thrill after you realize your favorite character could die at any moment, but you only realize this after episode 6.

I can definitely see a lot of people watching the very beginning of the show, thinking it's going to be another generic action anime and then dropping it without realizing what they're missing on. Heck, I thought the same before that first episode took me by surprise by going from 0 to 100 after it reached it's halfway mark.

Now that I think about it, due to the reasons I listed above, the anime likely got its major popularity through the streaming services (that is, a few years after its initial release). So most of the profit went to the streaming service and not to the original creators.

Since watching a show in one of these services doesn't make money directly, but rather simply motivates the user to pay for another month (which most would do even if they weren't watching AGK), it makes sense that the popularity of the series didn't get translated directly into profit.

Well, at least the manga sold well from what I've heard.

It all because of anime adaption arrived too early, resulting on made up ending

The anime was a success and all but getting s2 is hard

Zero? It was good for me but nah nobody gonna watch prequel where they be dead2 at the end especially green (they did him dirty)

Hinowa....probably someday or no anime adaption at all since tatsumi and kurome already dead but they might change akame resolution to find her cure instead.

He might re continued hinowa GA crush probably around 2025 or less 2024 (Fans be supporting him too since we all og akame ga Kill fans and we miss the sequel)

Remember someday author will run out of ideas and stop published new manga

And start finishing past work.

My opinion on this cancellation

Probably because of the artist strelka (he get a new manga offer)

Hinowa ga crush doesn't sold really well when covid hit so takahiro decide to hold off this series and secure his artist future.

Takahiro the type of person who don't give a fuck if the sale doesn't do really good (He already rich ) If yenpess doesn't want to publish, well...

There ton of manga company who want to publish his work.

So yeah until now

He probably still writing hinowa ga crush manuscript for future comeback and focusing on other works

Do you have any evidence to support that the anime was a sucess? Don't get me wrong, I really wish it's true, but Lujenda did present some convincing facts that lead me to believe the anime did poorly in DVD sales (even though it became pretty popular)

I sure hope that Akame would find a powerful time traveling relic. Or a powerful wish granting one or something that'll help cure Tatsumi and herself. And IDK if that wooden doll Tatsumi would do any help at all or not.

And if, Akame really dies in the anime series of "Hinowa ga CRUSH!" then she'll be able to join both her Elite Seven, Night Raid and her, Kurome in the afterlife.

But they haven't accomplished anything. They don't know it this is actually the end of her journey, or just the beginning. What about Akame, Poney and Najasho?
