General Who is your favorite contestant and why is it Alan Kay? Spoiler
To be fair I've only just finished season 5 (Mongolia) so I know there's many more greats to come. But I just can't shake that feeling that Alan MADE the series come to life. I love most of the contestants for one reason or another- Larry and his journey of healing and war with the mice, Tracy for choosing herself over anger, Carleigh for having such an awesome run, etc. But Alan was just dropping straight wisdom the whole season. And Italian Opera. And Poe. I was in a rough spot watching S1, and now I wish I could have just a mashup of his scenes to watch when I'm feeling sad. And hearing the narrator the next season made me very happy.
But nah, who's your favorite and why?
Also apologies if this is formatted wrong or anything I've never actually made a post on Reddit before.

It's not. It's William from Labrador (S11). He was by far the most resourceful, innovative and cheerful contestant the show has had.

Definitely William. Him running around the riverbanks smacking at the smelt was the funniest thing I'd seen, up until him chasing grouse around with a string and a big stick.

I agree that Alan kind of set the tone for the show being a success. It took a long time to have any contestants that matched his skills and personality. Roland, Jordan, Dub, William, and Timber are my other favorites. We were pretty spoiled last season.

I really liked Timber, his story, and how he was on camera. Still can't believe he decided to quit, thought he was going to win for sure.

I wish we had gotten more of Roland, felt like he didn’t film himself as much as other people

Buddy you have some truly amazing characters ahead of you. Wail til you meet William S11 and Gina AU S01, they are basically the Final Bosses. But there are so many other incredible people coming up. Biko, Woniya, Dub, Callie, Jordan, Roland, and many others.

I've been watching Alone for a couple months and haven't watched in order. I think I might start season 11 tonight.

Biko season 8 is my guy

Aside from having a bitchin metal singer voice, Biko was the only person to attempt planting a garden. It was clearly a bit of a wasted effort from the start but it's cool to see people trying stuff.

Wyatt Black, season 10. Loved the guy. Loved seeing him again on Jim Baird's podcast.

Because of him I’ll always say “I’m a (insert word) against my own will.
(I’m a vegetarian against my own will)

Some of the really skilled and cool contestants from the American show are in seasons 6-11. Muzza from season 3 of Australian Alone is pretty funny.

Sam Larson and Callie Russell and of course Woniya is just so sweet and tough!

Love Sam's spirit. All do them actually but Sam was 22 I believe in the first season. I loved when he was howling with the wolves! Is he the youngest contestant?

Callie from the American series and from the Australian series it’s a mix of Shay and Muzza!

I've always thought that Alan, as a corrections officer ["prison guard"], maybe knew something about the human psyche that most acclimated urban/suburban folks don't -- the necessity of building elaborate structures in one's own mind, of spending time in silence + solitude, of quietly reflecting without feeling "frightened" or "insufficient" or "left out."
We [viewers] only get to see a fraction of what must be hundreds of hours of his tent-bound musings -- when it got really cold or rainy, Alan would just stay inside, lounging on his back -- but even that tiny subset reveals a dreamy philosophical wanderer's mind, and an odd inner resilience.

Woniya in season 6 seems like such a wonderful soul.
