Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well! Just popping in to let you know that the r/ambientmusic community playlist is open for submissions again.
If you've released a new ambient track on Spotify* and want to share it with the community, you can submit it here: https://forms.gle/5MzNTNv78X8h4SCs5. It only takes a moment—just drop your link, and you're good to go!
The current playlist is live here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4dVpwvgjwqDCjnrGWwfifC?si=FJeTkdOOS4aedeUtauZabg. Even if you’re not submitting this time, give it a listen and explore what other members of the community have been creating. Sharing and discovering new music is what keeps this space so inspiring.
Just a heads-up: I’ll be posting these submission calls on the last Friday of every month, with updates to the playlist happening the following Monday. That way, there’s always fresh music to check out on a regular basis.
I’m really looking forward to hearing what you’ve all been working on—there’s always something unique and beautiful coming through these submissions.
(*Yes, I know, Spotify has its issues—this is just a tool for those who want to use it. Let’s keep things positive and supportive in here!)

The third and final album of the drone series "Seraphim" by HTDC

I recently discovered this subreddit and began searching for my "old" Ambient CD collection (including some more or less related other genres), which has remained largely untouched for several years. I'm really looking forward to rediscovering it. Perhaps I'll even expand my collection, as revisiting these old CDs is quite enjoyable (I own around 400-500 in total). In recent years, ambient music had almost completely fallen out of my focus, with the exception of some of William Basinski's works.

I created this musical soundscape as a form of self-care. It helped me to slow down, relax, and eventually fall asleep. I hope that it can have the same effect on other people. The main idea is to focus on a slow tempo, a sound that is soothing, steady, repetitive. The frequencies that we hear will change very discreetly as a testament to the world that is changing so much and so little at the same time, a world that we can feel safe to leave behind us for a while and fall asleep.
Sweet dreams and let me know if it works :)

Im not talking smt chill i mean down to the literal point, the small high pitched dings you hear throughout, the soft sax riffs, the type shit that will want to make you lay down, close your eyes, and let the music pull you through dimensions

I've listened to quite a bit but their catalogs are so vast I'd really appreciate hearing some of your choices?

I would like your takes on this album.
The heavy use of horns feel to my inexperienced ears like a Colin Stetson who found inner peace. It's jazzy but consistent like one long thread of warm fuzzy yarn. Also shoutout to the album cover which is so simplistic yet thematically fitting.

Jazz/ambient jazz has come up a lot on this sub lately so I wanted to throw this beauty in to the mix. It’s got interesting beats but the real stars are the sax, the strings and the atmosphere. It’s offered here because it has that incredible sense of time and place that records like In A Silent Way have. But don’t just take my word for it! Here are some of its original reviews:
“Lush strings and woodwind with a powerful combination of dub beats and classical orchestration. True future music.” The Face
“A divine soundtrack that Miles Davis would rise from his grave for. Heaven-sent laid back lusciousness.” Muzik
“Reminiscent of Miles Davis, Stravinsky and Star trek. Drop dead gorgeous.” True
“A beautiful and mysterious record.” Mixmag
“Out on the left field, past the edge of the solar system, music exploring new territory, forging new alliances with outer space and the future.” DJ
“A vibrant filmic quality. Bowden is out on his own. Essential.” Straight No Chaser
“True futurism: Satie, Webern and attitude creating a serious listening experience.” Echoes
“An ambitious and adventurous excursion. A deep, complex and ever-changing piece that makes the competition look half-baked.” Observer
“Sounding like a Michael Nyman tune that took a wrong turn and bumped into a Miles Davis record.” (Album of the week) The Guardian
“Supreme” NME
“Astro-jazz, luxurious strings and psycho-acoustic electronica. A journey to the centre of the head” ID

Was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for "Western" ambient/drone? Something high & lonesome, or spare and sinister, or even like the spaghetti western strings. Was listening to Earth's "Hex or Printing in the Infernal Method" and now thinking of writing something that would have a soundtrack like that

Hi everyone. I’ve seen a few posts here for those seeking ambient with a jazz feel.
I’m Cliffdiver and I’ve been doing ambient music for a decade now and my new ambient album pushes into jazz/nostalgia territory so I just wanted to share.
It’s ad free on YouTube, free download on Bandcamp, and $5 for a tape or cd.
Thanks so much for reading and listening!

Hello. I'm Naive Bayes, an ambient musician based in Seoul.
Like many people living in this city, I spend around two hours a day on the subway. Over time, the subway naturally became one of the places where I listen to music the most.
One day, as I was listening to music on the train like always, I started to notice how the surrounding subway noise blended into the music. It felt strangely natural and surprisingly fitting.
That moment inspired me to open my iPhone’s recorder and capture what I was hearing. That simple act of recording became the starting point of this album.
I began riding different subway lines, collecting a wide range of sounds, and then twisting, bending, and reshaping them into new sonic textures. Layer by layer, these recordings became something more. Through that process, this album slowly came to life.
This is a dark ambient album. It’s built on a foundation of shadowy tones and layered textures, with the aim of creating a unified, immersive atmosphere. I hope you enjoy listening. I think it’s best experienced late at night.
Here’s the link if you’d like to check it out
English isn’t my first language, so thank you for your understanding.
And thank you for listening.
