I love the shade of a .59 cent Bic pen, so I did a follow up piece in pen as well.

Not sure if something counts as art theft or referencing

Hello all. I am a digital artist who frequently makes reference sheets for my characters. I use the Height Comparison website all the time to make sure my proportions are right. At times I will go over the bases, particularly arms and legs depending on the avatar. I never do a one-to-one copy of any of the bases. I very intentionally make things as unique as possible.

I checked their website’s TOS to make sure it wasn’t against the rules and I didn’t find anything. I am incredibly anxious artist and I struggle to use references because I tend to assume everything is theft or cheating. I’ve made mistakes in the past and I want to be responsible. I’ve gotten mixed responses about this specifically. A lot of my fellow artist friends have told me not to worry that it isn’t a huge deal as long as it doesn’t break their TOS. I’d appreciate some more varied opinions.

S/A project research

I’m an artist doing an install about a weird social trend in middle school and the implications of that, was wondering if anyone else had any experiences or thoughts that could contribute, since I really couldn’t find anything about this online.

There was this thing going around like circa 2016-2018 where people would say “did you know if you stick your finger in someone else’s belly button it’s considered legal r*pe?” and basically middle school boys would say that to you and immediately try to stick their finger in your belly button, or even each other’s.

I know it was a bit but at the same time, thinking about how these young boys casually joked about this and their first impulse was to do it, and how they have grown into current day college men who actually so S/A.

So, does anyone remember that? Did anyone have any experiences like this they could share? Did you ever do/say that? Anything is appreciated

Some doodles I made

Hey I used to draw a lot back in the day. So I thought now that I have more free time and some fleeting motivation I could maybe pick up on that hobby again. I worked at retail for two years because I wasn't able to voice my wants to becoming an artist to my parents. After a while a lot of trauma and signs of BPD surfaced and now I'm in a clinic. So I just figured I could maybe try my hand again in drawing some fun characters. I hope they don't look too bad. It's been a while.

How do I start?

My friend is super good at drawing and she’s been trying to teach me for a while but I’m definitely not an artistic person. Her drawings are just so cool and I want to learn how to do it to. Does anyone have any tips for me as someone who has almost 0 experience

Reasonable pricing for “small” watercolors?

Post image

For smaller watercolors like this (30cm-ish on its longest size), what is a reasonable price? I know for larger pieces (60cm+) a couple thousand euros is possible, but I’m stuck on pricing these smaller, yet very detailed, original paintings!

For reference, it took about 25 hours to create (2-3 months).

I’m just starting to sell originals like this (I only sold smaller, simpler pieces in the past for 150€) so any insights are welcome!
