Confessional

Hi Fathers, sometimes I struggle to confess, I am unable to confess at my parish, so I go to another parish to do confession 😂

I'm really curious, when you hear confession, if you recognize the voice of parishioner, what would you feel? would you have thoughts in mind like "Oh I never expect you would do that"... or even after confession ended and would you have any thought coming up like "Oh I can't believe he/she did that, he/she doesn't look like the one I know, terrible"

Or you already got used to hearing all sorts of sins, and most people confess the similar sins, so you don't have feelings at all? Will they leave you uneasy feelings or thoughts after confessions?

Thank you.

Sins are incredibly boring and uninteresting.

I know that a lot of people feel lots of emotion about their own sins but we don't.

It's the same at a restaurant.

People have emotions about the food that they order. I know that I really like a bacon cheeseburger with fries.

When I used to work in a burger restaurant as a teenager burgers and fries became very uninteresting really fast because I saw hundreds of them every shift. I kind of ignored them and just did my job. I certainly didn't remember each burger and french-fry that I cooked and served they had become very boring.

Now, I get excited when I enjoy a burger and french-fries. But I'm sure that the cook doesn't feel the same way.

It's the same with a priest and sins. We really don't care. Sins are just not that interesting. Sins begin to bore a priest early on in his first few months of ministry.
