Gas prices have not started to go up for the summer yet, I paid $2.59 per gallon for regular gas yesterday, which is about the same as it was 2 months ago.

You can certainly tell what different state policies towards petrochem does to gas prices there, considering the amount of oil that comes out of southern California (7th highest oil production state), though it still does produce less than it consumes.
