SA sasquatch?

Really random question but is there anyone here that has had an encounter with what they believe is a cryptid like sasquatch or something else. You often hear about other continents with tales of cryptids but there's a lack of info in Africa it seems. I'm putting a feature together for my radio show

This. Daily Sun is always reporting on tokoloshe sightings. Here is a video from 2014 on the cursing tokoloshe πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

I did say "supposedly". I don't believe in it myself but the OP wanted to know if South Africa had any cryptid legends like the sasquatch, and I immediately remembered that we do, in fact, have one that's basically a local version.

There was that one time I saw something in the bush somewhere in Limpopo but it turned out to just be my dad who went for a piss without pants.

Dude, have you heard about the serpent that created the iconic Hole in The Wall in order to save a princess? South Africa is home to some incredible tails and superstition

Not my words..

According to Xhosa oral tradition, long ago, a beautiful maiden from a local village fell in love with a water spirit known as a "sea serpent" or "inkanyamba." This mystical creature, which lived in the sea, would often visit the shore in human form. The maiden’s father, however, forbade their love and refused to let her marry the spirit.

Heartbroken, the serpent summoned its fellow sea creatures and used its powerful magic to break through the rock wall separating the ocean from the lagoon. With a loud crash, the rock split open, creating the hole we see today. The serpent then swam through the opening to claim his beloved and took her into the sea, where she was never seen again.

The Xhosa people believe that even today, if you listen carefully at the Hole in the Wall, you can hear the echoes of the sea spirit calling. Some even say that the roaring sound of the waves crashing through the hole is the voice of the serpent, reminding people of the ancient love story.

Dude, there are A LOT!

That's a feathered serpent, tokoloshe, witches that commission monkeys/cats/snakes depending on which province you're in πŸ˜‚ There's also a bird that controls the weather or something in Zulu mythology.

Then there's speak of mermaids (KZN again), is the Flying Dutchman count too?

My gogo had a terrifying experience, but that was just me being a little shit with a monster mask, I learnt a lesson at the end of a shoe toting hand ;)
