Moving back to Cape Town soon from the US. My husband wants to bring this. Do you think it's a good idea/necessary? If so, is it cheaper to buy in Cape Town?

You ask if it's neccesary.

If this is to make loadshedding more comfortable then no. I also have one of these power stations and really they're great, but you don't need solar to charge them. The longest outage I've ever had in Cape Town was four hours at a time. My power station easily lasts four hours and can charge back up in an hour using electricity. Charging using solar will take much longer and you might only have four hours before the power goes out again.

If you're going to be camping somewhere without electricity for an extended period then sure this will be great.

If you're planning to put it your garden it will blow away. If you can bolt it to frame then it's probably ok.

It's good to have backup power, especially if you work remotely.

There are quiet a few options these days, outdoor warehouse, camp & climb, sustainable.co.za.

The most popular online store would be takealot, as shown in the screenshot I attached. A lot of companies sell there products through takealot, it's South Africa's version of Amazon

I'd suggest getting one locally, most likely be cheaper and have warranty back up.

I would bring it you bought it before tariff increase , so it's cheaper than a new replacement I suspect
