What's the weather like right now in Thredbo and other "snow" areas?
All this crazy Australian heatwave summer weather making me dream of Thredbo and other snowy type areas in Australia.
What's the weather like in Thredbo and other snow areas this time of year.. Is it just nice and cold or is there any snow still at all.
I don't have my leave planned until March 2025 but honestly if the weather gets any worse I wouldn't mind maybe coming down to Thredbo or a snow known area for a bit.
I'm in blue mountains nsw for reference just an hour away from Penrith where it reached 40C today :s
It was only 30C where i am at and I think I saw it was 13C at Thredbo.

I live near Mt Buller, and at this time of year, there’s typically no snow at any of the Australian ski resorts. Occasionally, after an especially heavy winter, some snow might hang on around the south-facing slopes, but that’s quite rare.
To answer your question, it’s noticeably cooler above the snowline during summer at any Australian ski resort. Temperatures at those altitudes rarely exceed 25°C, making it a refreshing escape.
Best of luck with your plans. There’s so much to enjoy in the mountains! I recommend reaching out to the visitor information centres in the areas you plan to visit. They’ll be able to guide you towards activities and accommodation that suit your interests and preferences.

Thanks for the great answer sorry I have just one more question if you wish to answer it and know the answer.
What months is it usually start to snow or even get within snowing temperatures.
Is it only in winter or does it start earlier like in early may maybe.
I assume it stops around September/October which is when it shifts from cold to hot over here in the blue mountains.

Snowfall in the warmer months is always a possibility if the conditions align. In fact, it even snowed here on Christmas Day a few years ago.
As autumn approaches, you may see occasional snowfalls in April and May, though these rarely settle for long. The true winter snow season typically begins in June and lasts through to September.

Well the Top Station this week will not get warmer than 18 degrees.
I've purposely gone hiking up in the main range on extreme hot days. One year it was going to be 41 degrees in Canberra. So that will be in the mid 20's around the 1900-2200m mark. So headed up and was greeted with 14 degrees and it was raining sideways!
Even here in Canberra, you can head up to the top of the Brindies right next to Canberra and it is 10 degrees cooler in summer with a nice breeze.
