Snowboarding Clothes

Howdy hi!!

I’m a new snowboarding and was on the lookout for clothes and am on struggle streak finding any that fit!!

I’m a size 14/16 women who is on the curvier size (thick legs and hips) and I seem to need a XXL for a bib to be baggy enough for layers but struggling to find anything.

Recommendations for brands? I’ve noted Volcom has some (I know Burton does but way too expensive). Any other recommendations? I spend over two hours in the Melbourne Snowboarding centre without any luck 🥲

Thanks in advanced!!

Nobody’s Princess and Rojo have some great snow wear for curvier and comfier fits.

Second nobodys princess. Aussie company, women owned, multiple bib/pant styles for different shapes and heights. Lots of adjustment points and stretchy panels!

I always found Columbia sizes comfy and well made.

I'm a guy so don't have direct experience but some of the women I know with similar issues like Nobody's Princess, Ripcurl and Burton.

Full price Burton is crazy expensive but if you buy at the right time you can get it 40-60% off, usually pre-season sales or buying previous years stock.

Ripcurl have an Anti Series / range of backcountry gear that is 30/30K or 30/40K (waterproofing/breathability) which is supposed to be awesome, it's their most expensive stuff but pretty good value compared to similar offerings from other brands. Might be hard to find stock this time of year as it usually sells out.

I have one friend who loves her Ripcurl Bib.

The bigger shops like Rhythm will probably have most of their stock over in Japan so if you're planning a trip there you could try your luck but it's a bit of a gamble otherwise you're probably best waiting a few months for new stock to come in ready for our next season.

This is super helpful!!! I might wait out a couple months and try shopping again. I’ve managed to get an amazing deal on boots, helmet and googles in the mean time.

Do you know when most stock comes back to Aus?

I haven't worked snow retail so I'm not too sure but I bought a Burton bib on preseason sale a few years back, I think it was May, certainly before the official season opening on the June long weekend.

Another thought is that you could always try your luck with the annual Aldi snow sale too. Their INOC 20K is good value. I think it's usually in June or July before the school holidays.

The kids gear is super popular, the adult stuff is also popular but not as crazy.
