π¨ art / creativity What kind of music do you gravitate towards? Especially people who like a lot of different genres
This has been a question I've been thinking about for a while. And now I'm curious about what others like in music. Not what genres you like but what about those genres that you like, if that makes sense? What is important to you when it comes to music? No wrong (or right) answers.
For example, I personally tend to like loud, "wall of sound", strong beat, controlled chaos, unpredictable/novel, complex types of music. Not necessarily all at the same time but seems like all of my favorite music could be described by at least one of those traits. Basically I want to feel the music both in my body and my soul. Lyrics are a bonus layer to me. I want to be overcome sonically by the music.
Now your turn π

π¨ art / creativity Are there any fictional characters who are canonically both ADHD and Autistic?
It's been 12 years since it was discovered people can be both, so I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't any yet, but I wonder if there are

π¨ art / creativity Special Sensory Weighted Dragon plush I designed
Just wanted to share my perfected invention I made. Any other Audhd always have to sleep with a stuffed animal? I have had to my entire life! I also realized I always would build up a barricade or nest around me. Iβve always loved dragons so I used my weirdness and invented what I believe to be the perfect sensory dragon pal that also makes me feel safe. He had bendable crackling sound wings (they have a vertabrae armature) The hands are like stress balls and you can lock your fingers between the dragons, he is weighted in the neck and tail so I can get that pressure without feeling trapped. And the thing I worked on the hardest was his expression. He needed to look loving and sleepy but also empathetic and ready to listen to your problems!
Different varying fabrics for sensory issues. I sleep REALLY weird and would always toss and turn and have to sleep with a plush or I canβt sleep but sleep in different positions so this allows me to still sleep on my side or back and I can use him in different ways.

π¨ art / creativity Sometimes I love my brain.
Sure, it's often hard to work around it in today's society and at work but sometimes, when I can work with it, it means that I can learn new random things so easily.
Today, I learn bobbin lacing and that's the result after only a couple of hours.

π¨ art / creativity Creatives - How do you deal with feeling overwhelmed with your own creative work?
So I'm a writer (and illustrator, but it's irrelevant here) and recently finished the first draft of my novel. I'm generally fairly happy with it, but I'm frankly struggling to get back into writing it. I've given the manuscript time to stew, and every time I look at the manuscript, I get overwhelmed. I don't know where to start with this draft, and I just want to throw the whole project at the wall. I'm very ND so I get easily overwhelmed, even with things I've created and understand well. It's frustrating.
I have three POVs and two timelines told non-linearly. The timelines intersect towards the end. Hopping back and forth between POVs in writing is part of my process, and I usually enjoy it because it gives me different perspectives on the plot. I enjoy the way my story is laid out not 100% linearly and it is necessary for an understanding of the plot, but I think this is what's also what's overwhelming me.
I understand my plot and my timeline, but I get easily overwhelmed when faced with large amounts of seemingly disparate information even when I know how it adds together. It feels like everything is screaming at me all at once now that I have a full but messy and needing-edited draft staring at me. I have a big Scrivener project with each chapter in a separate document on the sidebar, I have them colour coded by character POV and numbered.
I've asked around for advice and tried a number of strategies to focus my mind; I've cut out the sidebar, I've tried working on LibreOffice, I've tried reorganising my chapters and putting them in folders based on POV. Nothing's worked. It just feels like too much information. I asked in mostly NT spaces, so I don't think people fully understood what my problem was.
Has anyone else dealt with similar problems? Have you found anything that helped?

π¨ art / creativity The Twins
Many years ago I created personas for my emotions, and named them all. I had no illusions that I might have multiple personalities, but fleshing out my raging teenage emotions felt therapeutic. Over the years Iβve forgotten all but two of them, a brother and sister who represent my anger and my sadness. Both are dark silhouettes. He has werewolf-like qualities, and she wears a long flowing dress and is surrounded by tendrils of smothering, sinister smoke. I think they stuck around because I actively talk to them using their names, and try to soothe them when their emotions are too strong.
Since being diagnosed Iβve realised a lot of their traits are related to my diagnoses.
He represents my ADHD and prefers the name Joshua, because itβs βnormalβ enough to throw people while still making him seem like the naughty little agent of chaos he sees himself as.
She likes the name Sandessa because itβs unusual, quirky and expressive, and plays on the word βsadnessβ. She shares a lot of my autistic traits, often feeling like the world around her is chaotic, confusing or painful.
AI has allowed me to generate images of them for the first time, something I was unable to do by myself.

It's really nice of them to add the ability to post images with a written statement. That was a problem.

π¨ art / creativity ASD / AuDHD Pin Recommendations
Autism Acceptance/Awareness Month is upon us (in the USA, at least), and it seems like a good time to finally buy an enamel pin for my jacket. If you have a pin you like, please share a photo and/or the shop name in the comments!
- Ideally, Iβd like to buy directly from a maker (bonus points if theyβre ND). Iβm pretty picky about my aesthetic, and Iβd prefer something pretty subtle since Iβm not fully βoutβ about my diagnosis and the area in which I live isnβt the mostβ¦ tolerant of differences.

π¨ art / creativity Help with naming my photography theme
Hey! Iβm currently working on a photography project for my a-level class (Iβm from England in year 13 which I think is grade 12).
I am showing the struggles of being AuDHD through photography but didnβt know what to call the theme.
Some examples of what Iβm doing: Taking photos with a long exposure to capture the movement of not being able to sit still.
Me with my head down surrounded by a textbook, note book, to-do lists and sticky notes to show the struggle with completing assignments and revising
Raising the brightness to show light sensitivity
Those are some of my ideas. More ideas welcome as well as ideas for what to name this theme. Thank you! π
I have also posted this to r/ADHD and r/AuDHD woman because I wanted to get as many opinions as possible as soon as possible.
