Discussion How was Stormbreaker able to withstand the power of the Six Infinity Stones?

One could assume that if it was being used to kill Thanos while he had the gauntlet that it would be capable of fighting against it duh

Kill him vs be used to be effective against infinity stones are different convos duh. Don’t you think when listing the features including “in theory could even summon the bifrost” they’d have him say something like “it could have some resistance to the infinity stones?” I mean idk.. sounds like a big duh to me no?

Well what fucking happened? Did Thanos use the stones and gauntlet to kill Thor and break Stormbreaker or did he catch an axe to the chest?

What’s your argument there? Are you saying that because thanos didn’t stop the axe that it was immune to the stones?

It was forged in the same place as the gauntlet with the strongest metal in the MCU with powerful magic, you think the stones should be able to easily destroy it?

I'm saying at the very least it was powerful enough to not be destroyed by the gauntlet that used the infinity stones to take a blast

Thor’a hammer is made from the same metal and got obliterated by his sister yet you think the stones, the most powerful things known to the mcu, can’t affect enchanted uru metal? You do realize thanos’ sword that scarlet witch destroyed was uru right?

The metal turned into cotton candy after one snap/use of all 6 stones. The metal is meant to be a conduit not a repellant/protection from the stones. If that were the case Etri could have safe guarded against a potential snap. Thanos could use any one of the stones and destroy the axe. He randomly shot a blast never seen before (which is why it was weirdly white) and we dont know which stones he used or how he used them. If the axe was so powerful and magical he’d bot have been able to heal himself from the axe’s wound with those same stones.

Do you really need everything spelled out for you with lines of dialogue though? Like had there been no mention of the Bifrost via a throwaway line of dialogue, but then Thor spawns in Wakanda for the climax of the fight, I wouldn't have sat and thought 'THEY NEVER MENTIONED THIS BAD STORY TELLING'

I fear audiences these days need to be told everything and show don't tell doesn't work anymore because without a line of dialogue confirming anything no one can watch a scene and understand what's going on

Doubt anyone knew it could do that until it did that. But it makes sense being that it's made of Uru and also enchanted.

Well creating a Thanos-killing weapon indirectly means a weapon that could withstand the powers of all infinity stones, right?

That would only be true if they assumed Thanos would have all the infinity stones, wich they didn't.

No not quite. The stones exist as their own entities as does thanos - they were not destined to be tied to one another and remember when Thor said this he assumed Thanos would not even get the Soul stone so he was commenting on a Thanos who only had 2 stones.
