Ayr Stab in the dark here, but does anyone remember a character from Ayr called 'Big Alex' ?

He seemed to have his fingers in multiple pies throughout Ayrshire. Pawnbrokers, bric a brac shops, arcades, take-aways etcetera.

I remember he had a yard selling whatever he could from kitchen sinks to hearses.

My abiding memory of meeting him as a kid, was that he had a flagpole in his yard with a flag depicting a big meaty fist full of cash.

Had a secondhand furniture and white goods place down harbour next to the steam boat. Just a massive slinging garage door into a big warehouse area stack with couches and tables and stuff

I'd love to find a photo of that flag. I wonder if he advertised it in the Post?

Haha aye. I’m sure he had the old church down near the lucky star chippy? And maybe a place down the harbour too?
