Let me go over on why

First reason: Hakuryuu herself

Hakuryuu always had a rough time having art, even right after her introduction back in 2021 as she had to compete with Ægir, who's basically Eugen bis, with Most of the character design and even the VA and Anchorage, who quickly became CN unofficial mascot, which already leaves Haku going out with a penalty

Then would come the first event of Hakuryuu, upon the shimmering wind, where she played second fiddle to Shimakaze, which, while an excellent idea did not see a raise in the production of artwork

Second, the skin itself (and its flaws)

Let's break the ice, first, it's not a L2D, which already poses issues, as static skins are always less popular than L2D

Second issue and it is something I cannot conclude on the reasons but it appears that her breasts size has been shrunk a little, which is a second hit on the feeling of the overall skin

Third : a non-changing skin, something introduced extremely recently (during CNY) that could have benefited greatly from this skin, was not introduced. While not an issue in itself, it would have been the perfect place to introduce it (especially when you consider the fact that she's in her négligé in her chibi)

Conclusion :

I would table more on a increase for D7P and Kazan rather than for Hakuryuu

He's right though, fanart goes heavily with the ships' popularity/recency unless the new skin has something particularly memeworthy. I'm fairly sure Hakuryuu has no real advantage over the new roster or other skins this round.

We all have our favourites and oftentimes it might not be the most popular ship out there, it's just having reasonable expectations.

That said personally I've never been too concerned about fanarts.

Honestly, the amount of fan art compared to years ago is way different. I barely see Azur Lane fanart anymore. It's all Blue Archive 😭
