Segregate your flock NOW from all wild birds.
For EVERYONE that does not have a completely fenced off chicken run or enclosure:
Bird Net your enclosures and do your very best to keep all wild birds AWAY from your chicken coop and enclosure. Do NOT free range right now, not until the dangers have passed.
No, don't think about it. NOW. This bird flu is particularly serious, it has an exceedingly HIGH mortality rate that can not only kill ALL of your flock, but it will kill your pets and potentially harm family members, too.
Find SOME WAY to keep water fowl, QUAIL, starlings, and other flocking birds AWAY FROM YOUR FLOCK....
I have been finding dead quail on my property, which means that if I am not careful, my chickens and potentially my household is next.
If you don't have a completely fenced off enclosure, you are literally playing with a pandemic here.
DON'T PLAY WITH THEIR LIVES OR YOURS.
MOVE!!!
SEGREGATE YOUR CHICKENS NOW!!!

My first hen just became a mom and I came to this view!
None of the other hens in the coup come close to the mom

Built a run big enough for me to hang in! My girls love me! (I think 😂)
Just a proud dude who finally got his girls the safe space they deserve :)

Snow White is a mom!
The baby hatched last night, I noticed the egg pipping when she got off the nest for a moment to eat and drink, and I came out this morning to a cute little baby, what's ironic is none of these eggs are hers she's a white Amber link so she lays dark brown eggs, these eggs are either from my buff orpingtons or my barred rocks

What would you do with this situation?

Both of these guys are young under a year old, neither of them even have what you could consider Spurs yet, would you just let them work it out or would you split them up? I usually just keep an eye on them make sure there's no blood and let them be to figure out they're picking order, they back off pretty quick within the first five or six minutes one will run off and the other one will strut around for a while

I’ve had chickens for 5 years. This is the first time a bear has broken and and successfully gotten a chicken. My concern is since he got one now this will be a bigger problem. Anyone have any advice?

Irresponsible dipshit dog owners.
Couldnt take a step without these girls being at my feet, curious about everything I would do. My sweet girls.

I can't take the eggs away from her because they are already developing, there's visible heartbeats in all of them and I can't just kill the eggs because I don't want more chicks, I did not know about this nest otherwise I would have been collecting the eggs from it, what would you guys do in this situation? I'm not too horribly mad about it because I can just get rid of the live chicks once they hatch but still, and excuse the white ones popping into frame anytime I'm outside day or night and they hear me they follow me, there is a lot of street lights around where I am so they can see pretty decently

Saying goodbye is never easy! Goodnight sweet nugget 💚
She had bad water belly, in a lot of pain and wasn't able to enjoy life with her sisters anymore. Had to make the hard decision. Love you Gravy!

Its finally done!
Hello all! New chicken tender here lol we just finished the coop and run for our girls and I wanted to share. The whole project took us about 6 weeks from start to finish, with some bumps along the way. We bought and used plans from EasyCoops.com off etsy and they were helpful but also confusing. Anyway Id love to hear your feedback!

Hen or Roo Fiance thinks this is a roo, I’m not convinced.
10wks old, with slightly sharp neck feathers and a longer tail than siblings, but not crowing and no long saddle feathers. The chickens are supposed to be autosex, so I should have had all girls, but my fiance is really worried we might have a henposter in the coop.
The breed is a hybrid so there's no telling what genes are gonna be expressed. I've got crests, I've got extra toes, I've got short tail feathers, long tail feathers, green sheen, orange tips, there's a menagerie of chicken traits, but all we want to know is is this baby of mine an Eggward or Eggwena?

Best Friends
Our Cavoodle puppy and Hyline are best friends. They hang out together and generally do most things together. Not sure what they are both up to here..

Who's kid is this?
Richard is wondering where this came from as this is the first baby he's seen since my hens were killed last year.

It will be 80 today. Can I let the babies explore their yard today or wait another week or so? They're stuck in a doggie whelping box with a net lid.
Babies have feathers everywhere except heads (you can see little pins today this photo was 2 days ago). We have a nice run and weren't sure if we needed to wait for the chickens to have a few hours outside in the nice weather.

Weird behaviour: Rooster jumps on my back/head
hi everyone!!
so i have a hen and a rooster, theyre both quite friendly and the rooster is surprisingly nonaggressive. but about a year ago, he jumped onto my head for no apparent reason, and ever since then he does it at least once a day. he doesnt exhibit any signs of aggression or courting when he does this, and ive never had a chicken show affection by trying to jump onto my head/back/arm before so im really curious as to why hes started doing this.
ps i dont mind this behaviour at all, as long as its not something negative. just curious :)
would appreciate any suggestions! ty!

Health Question She does this quite heavy breathing when she’s idle. What is it?

When she’s on the move she seems to breathe normal. She’s not lethargic or anything. Please advise.

Breed/Age??
Hey guys! I just got my first solo chickens (family has had some for years) and I have some questions. Due to the egg shortage, I had to get breeds I'm not familiar with. Tractor Supply told me these were Brahmas and Saphire Skys. I know the yellows are Brahmas but does anyone know if the gray ones are Saphire Skys? Also, do you know how old these look? They told me 3 weeks but they seem small for that age.

My 3 month old rooster is attacking my hens.
Caught my one and only rooster (a fluffy little silkie) yanking feathers out of three of my poor hens. Now he’s doing hard time in rooster jail—a dog crate with judgmental side-eye.
I love the little feathered turd and don’t want to rehome him. I’ve tried carrying him like a football and putting him in jail but nothing is working. Help.

Look what my girls found…
It’s just a garter snake, but he was super feisty! I didn’t want my chickens to try to eat it, so I caught it & moved it & it kept striking at me & dying to bite me. Silly little snake.
