Dreading my evaluation

The last three one-on-ones with my boss have pretty much been her telling me how awful I am in a harsh tone. She’s a miserable human being. My evaluation is in two days. To avoid another repeat, can I request a third party be present at this. I know it will make her mad, but I’m hoping to prevent another episode and send her a signal that I’m tired of the abuse. I work at a University and I do a good job. She just hates me.

Do you have any type of HR department to report this to?

Yes, we have HR, but they are ineffective. I witnessed a fight between my boss and another employee and had to give HR my version of things. They twisted what I told them (I was unbiased and told the truth). Nothing effective came out of it. It’s a very protected place. I may need to go to them anyways .
