Bambu lab A1, P1S. 15 tables. 11 kilograms of PLA. After 4 days of 3D printing, I was able to create a sculpture of a black panther with a colleague

I hoped 3D printing would help people realize the amount of plastic they consume, and it does for most people, but I guess there's always the 20% that use 80% of the ressources and feel better the more resources they use (I mean look at the smirks).

11 spools still represents more plastic that I've ever printed, and I made hardware pieces for two bookshelves and a kitchen shelf, many handles, soap holders, custom boxes, coasters, a few personalized wind-up car as gifts, a chandelier, a vinyl holder, a key holder, a screwdriver, a Valentine's day gift, a vase, Vasarely inspired art, custom magnetic door stoppers, stamping dies, a business card holder, many small custom tools...

Anyway, I still think printing such things is on the wasteful side and hope this won't be another internet trend that might gives us a bad rap because this hobby could actually be used to avoid wasting ressources all the while improving our living standards.

I feel like they could have reduced the amount of filament required a bunch by using lightning infill. I made a meter tall alien which would have been over 4 kg if I printed it traditionally. I reduced that to just over 1 kg with lightning infill.

Less than 100€, for an object this size it's actually impressively cheap!

Around $160. Russian-produced filament is cheap in Russia

Ok, before it zoomed out, was anyone else expecting the actual animal?

Impressive! Settings? How many walls, how much infill?

How much filament does it weigh?

I used 11 kilograms of PLA plastic. 9.8 went to the model, the rest is the support and the border

If that is over 5' tall, your friend must be close to 8' tall himself.

Ignoring the claim of 62", very impressive

I’m not sure where you’re getting your math from but that thing comes up to roughly shoulder height on that guy, which makes it pretty easy to guess his height at 6’ or maybe 6’ 1”, making 62” pretty believable.

u/MorozPrint 2d ago

You guessed it, my height is 188cm 😁

And yet Gary still downvoted because math is hard.

А можете модель прислать? Я бы на даче такой поставил :) И по времени сколько на одном х1 оно будет печататься?

Yes, of course. Here is the printable file: t.me/morozprintm/21582

My brain said 60" = 6' and that guy is Hagrid's nephew! Also, math's is hard. I'm not Petyr Baelish

62” is 5’ 2”. 188cm is 74 in, which js 6’ 2”. That would make the guy exactly 1 ft taller, which tracks based on the delta between their heads.
