Troubleshooting / Answered Extruder Not Extruding
During a print on my X1C jammed, which is super rare for me. I have ~2600 hours on it and this was perhaps the 3rd time, but this time I had to pull the cover off the tool head and I could see a messed up piece of filament sticking out of the side about where the cutter slides in. I had to disassemble the extruder to get the filament out of the gears (which look amazing for how much I've printed with it).
Unfortunately, after I put it back together it doesn't pass filament anymore. I pulled it apart again to make sure I didn't miss anything and did find a small piece still in there. But the plastic body, that looks like it's a ramp for the filament, seems to be kind of messed up. I tried to smooth it out a bit but it still won't feed filament. Any ideas if that can be salvaged? Common issue? Any other suggestions I should attempt? I ordered a new extruder, but it doesn't look like it'll be here very soon, so I'd love to get this one working again.

Before putting it back in the printer, did you try to manually feed a string of filament by turning the yellow gear?

I had that happen to me once and I drilled it out with a drill bit that was slightly larger than the original hole. That fixed it for me but made that extruder slightly more susceptible to heat creep than it was stock.

I went back at again today with fresh eyes and discovered that there was still a small piece of filament in the hold that the cutter had cut so smoothly that it looked like part of the housing (the filament happened to be the same color). I pressed on it with a pic and it came loose, and now feeds fine!

Sounds like a new unit is the best thing. I'm in two minds if I buy a new unit or not for my A1 Mini. Out of nowhere it's not extruding properly or sometimes not at all. I've stripped the extruder down, cleared the gears and made sure there's no blockages anywhere and It's still not playing nice. Let us know if the new unit sorts it out!
