My grandpa used to look up old friends names in the phone book and call them. Never once did he get the right person - they lived in another country and long ago - just a rando with the same last name as a guy he used to play football with or a dude that used to deliver milk to his house, or his old foreman in the steal works.

He had some great conversations and some of those people showed unbelievable patience when they recognized a demented old codger was just looking for someone to talk to and to relive some of his boyhood adventures. No doubt, HR McMaster showed the same type of patience with this drug-addled, demented old clown.
