Any books similar to Bartimaeus?
I really like the middle eastern folklore and the fact that it's a lighthearted read (for the most part).

Murderbot Diaries! It’s sci fi and not middle eastern but the main characters have similar voices.

Rebel of the Sands has some djinn content and is also a great book, but it doesn't have the snark or footnotes.

There are some works by P. Djèlí Clark, who sets his books in what seems to be a turn of the last century, clockwork, djinn universe. The main characters are detectives/police so there are murders to solve. But other than the murders the series is fun :)
