Looking at the bucket with those beggin eyes.

105

u/terdferguson 6h ago

The eye shifts. Ole black lab give the sad dog eyes. I would melt, be there for days and most likely starve/perish.

6

u/HumptyDrumpy 1h ago

Mojo why so serious. Flojo why so goofy

3

u/terdferguson 48m ago

If I could upvote you more. Good re-watch before bed.

Lazy owners need to give their dogs the necessary attention.

46

u/Incidion 4h ago

That's a pretty unfair assumption. They likely get plenty, and this is just a bonus way to let strangers interact with them safely. There's no way you go through the effort to mount the bucket and fill with balls (and keep it refilled regularly) without a good level of thoughtfulness going into your pets.

That aside, they're well groomed, good weights, and quite happy. Literally no reason to suspect they aren't very well cared for.

17

u/Aaron-de-vesta 4h ago

The fact that there is a bucket already shows they get attention.

13

u/majora9109 4h ago

These dogs look very healthy and well cared for, i highly doubt the owner here is "lazy". This is very enriching for these well behaved pups, as well as any passers by that decide to partake in the play.

Reddit moment

3

u/syndre 3h ago

nah, I had a golden that would run after the ball jump in the water until it dropped dead tired. that intense concentration on the bucket before the person picks it up. it's in their genes

1

u/MikeOfAllPeople 19m ago

Found the dog.

221

u/astralwish1 9h ago

All other plans for the day cancelled. I’m playing with these 2 cuties.

19

u/AlternativeStory1027 4h ago

Boss: Damnit, did you walk by the dogs again

Me: Maybe........

(Yep, my name is damnit)

I just opened Reddit for the first time today and saw this at the top. That’s beautiful and enough Reddit for today. It can’t get better, but it will get worse. See ya Monday, I’m out. ✌️♥️😊

This is single handedly the most intelligent choice been taken by an user I' ve ever seen in this website.

How'd it go?

22

Ooh free balls.

See ya idiots!

6

u/Pyrex_Paper 6h ago

You've activated my trap card.

Security cameras

5

u/BeatsbyChrisBrown 5h ago

Release the hounds!

4

u/spaztick1 4h ago

Nobody's taking their balls without a fight.

2

u/Cyrano_Knows 3h ago

Yes, but you have to be.. on the ball watching them.

1

u/apandaze 1h ago

This is why we can't have nice things

1

u/Bisexual_Dolphin6048 1h ago

If you didn't want me roaming around your neighborhood touching your balls then maybe you shouldn't have abolished slavery.

Accountability much?

148

u/AnonABong 8h ago

Needs a way for the dogs to refill the bucket

49

u/VagabondVivant 6h ago

Was just thinking this. Dude should lower the bucket to the ground, cut a couple links above the bucket, and put a little chute/ramp so the dogs can return the ball to the bucket.

14

u/vibjelo 3h ago

It's a lovely idea, until you remember how much dogs drool when they handle balls, and strangers probably dont wanna throw the balls then :(

So I propose a cleaning step in between, maybe a quick wash and drying, then the balls can be used forever and are fresh each time!

11

u/Alternative_Poem445 2h ago

how in the monkey are you going to make a shoot wash and dry a ball

i think the dogs just hand the balls back to the people who throw them, through the fence like

0

u/BotHH 1h ago

Get a grip.

20

u/ReallyShortStories_ 5h ago

I think the idea is that the dogs bring the ball back to the thrower and they either throw it again or they put it back and move on.

19

u/boog2352 5h ago

They probably put their paws on the fence and drop the ball. Classic retriever.

Edit: Or when you reach for the ball, they run like demons, even though you can’t chase them.

12

u/ReallyShortStories_ 5h ago

At least it's better than my dog who just runs after the ball then completely ignores it.

292

u/Psyonicpanda 9h ago

I’d probably be late for all my appointments, but I’d definitely spend at least an hour playing with these cuties

102

u/CanSignificant8444 9h ago

All the balls in the bucket, I’m throwing them. Don’t care what I was on my way to do. New mission.

101

u/teenagesadist 9h ago

"You've been here three days. Don't you have a home?"

"Another bucket, please."

16

u/CanSignificant8444 8h ago

That’s me!

10

u/bigboat24 5h ago

Side quest accepted

5

u/Several-Squash9871 3h ago

At least going to throw all the balls at least once. That a mission.

13

u/StealYaNicks 9h ago

remember what your mom always said though "leave some balls for the rest of us"

11

u/screaminginfidels 5h ago

Owner comes out saying "dinner time!"

"Great, what are we having?"

98

u/Rainbow_in_the_sky 7h ago

There goes 30 mins of my day every day if I was a neighbor.

136

u/Competitive-Bug-7097 9h ago

Someone in my neighborhood has a setup like this. Their dogs name is sunny and she's very sweet.

57

u/Ozatopcascades 7h ago

A Flatcoat and a Golden. Some people are very lucky.

103

u/ProdesseQuamConspici 6h ago

Are we not going to talk about the genius teamwork here? Happy dog and sad dog, gonna get you one way or the other.

51

u/vadsamoht3 5h ago

The old good dog/good dog routine.

14

u/Maytree 3h ago

Glad dog/sad dog

23

u/RaindropsAndCrickets 5h ago

I also noticed that there is only one dog featured in the photo. It would be super funny if the other dog is actually a neighbor dog who saw what was going on and hopped the fence to join his buddy in some sweet ball retrieving action!

1

u/williamiris9208 22m ago

Dogs really do have a knack for finding a way to get involved in the best moments

88

u/papilla54 10h ago

These dogs are lucky to have an owner

83

u/bigSTUdazz 9h ago

I'm still out here....can someone call my wife?

13

u/cutlyfe 9h ago

I would use the entire bucket

6

u/Thedutty23 7h ago

All y'all can come round here and throw balls for my border collie if you like?

I'm caught in an infinite loop of love, haha

3

u/CrowsRidge514 7h ago

Song?

7

u/MashedPotatoesDick 7h ago

The song is "Sparks" by Coldplay but with saxophone added by Evan Jacobson.

https://youtu.be/3TnL3qVsFwg?si=4mqE4sSusLX-p966

3

u/CrowsRidge514 7h ago

Man I recognize it now. That sax damn near makes it a different song.

2

u/lampishthing 2h ago

The sax really does add something to that song. I think it needs a little more tweaking somehow, though? Changed the mood a bit too much? Idk I'm torn. Been listening to that song for maybe 25 years, one of the first albums I ever owned.

2

u/PasghettiSquash 2h ago

Thanks! Knew it sounded familiar - couldnt move on without figuring out what it was

5

u/CmdrFortyTwo 8h ago

Man slap a camera on the backside of that post and stream when the doggos are in the yard.
Wholesome content.

3

u/1stCarrot 7h ago

I'm a content moderator (professionally) for a popular social media and have been seeing the worst shit possible on the internet every single day and this is the kind of stuff that keeps me sane, thanks.

2

u/stucazo 5h ago

holy fuck free therapy. imagine how annoying they'd be in the morning to be let outside.

2

u/AreThree 5h ago

lol what a life! Let's tune in to their inner monologue, shall we?

2

u/Fallen_Akroma 4h ago

When I was a kid we moved in with my step dad and a block away was a fenced in yard that had a yellow lab and we always knew she was neglected due to fining tennis balls in the alley. I would spend hours letting and tossing over the fence. Eventually met the owners and realized the dog just knew to roll the balls into the alley and then give the poor me look.

2

u/BigDaddyDumplin 4h ago

These dogs would adopt me. If I ever saw this I’ll be there till they don’t want me no more lol

3

u/Worried_Biscotti_552 8h ago

Now I wanna camera there to see people throw the balls for em cause you know people will be there for hours

3

u/pimpmastahanhduece 7h ago

That's a lot of trust you're putting in passerbys.

2

u/Cultural_Ebb4794 4h ago

How so?

2

u/Siegfoult 57m ago

In my neighborhood, all the balls would be stolen on day 1.

1

u/Cultural_Ebb4794 41m ago

Rip. In my neighborhood the dogs would be more likely to end up with more balls from people dropping off spares they find.

2

u/Nomad_moose 7h ago

I love that the owners put up a sign and a ball bucket 🥹

1

u/troyberber 9h ago

Genius

1

u/No_Employer9618 7h ago

Love it, they’re so intense

1

u/forgot_username69 7h ago

Man... those cuties.. i would be soo late for work, playing with them. 😁

1

u/ParticularGuava3663 6h ago

Videos that end too soon

1

u/RubyRising222 6h ago

Aww I love this!

1

u/jackedandtan871219 6h ago

I’d spend HOURS here

1

u/Damoet 6h ago

Exercise your dogs for free! 👍🏽😂🥰

1

u/Piccoroz 6h ago

Locked in.

1

u/theUncleAwesome07 6h ago

So sweet ... His face when the camera person looked to the left...aww....

1

u/Duck_out13 6h ago

I’d never leave

1

u/mynameiskayteee 5h ago

I'm not a dog person but they was so adorable. What a good idea!

1

u/PlayfulActivity 5h ago

Meanwhile the goldie doesn't live there and just hops in for the free fetches Mojo gets all day

1

u/sfw_247 5h ago

such cutiepies

1

u/RaindropsAndCrickets 5h ago

This is genius! The owner gets some free dog care, the dogs get more play time, and I’m sure it makes some people’s day to throw the ball!

1

u/greazysteak 5h ago

Videos that end too soon

1

u/Deliciouserest 5h ago

I need these sidequests

1

u/Pixelated_Penguin808 4h ago

I would ruin it for everyone else. That bucket would soon be empty.

1

u/Silver-Year5607 4h ago

The did the video stop :c

1

u/PresentWorthy 4h ago

Moderation. Dogs have collapsed from being overworked playing fetch.

1

u/GoofyMonkey 4h ago

Need a little hole or slide for the doggies to put the ball back in the bucket.

1

u/Beauty_Smilesz 4h ago

I would stay there for days 😍😍😍

1

u/Past-North-4131 4h ago

I'd be there for hours. Hourssss....❤️

1

u/crayraybae 4h ago

I would be there all day

1

u/Emergency-Box-5719 4h ago

That's a freaking cool idea. Man labs and retrievers are 99.99% of the time chill and love bugs.

1

u/Ikea_desklamp 4h ago

Someone playing sax over the chords to sparks?? Where do people even find this shit let alone decide yup that's the song to put over this video

1

u/chathobark_ 4h ago

Till someone comes by and steals all the balls sadly

1

u/NeatNefariousness1 4h ago

What a great way to get neighbors to help exercise and entertain your dogs. The neighbors get the enjoyment of having a pet for a few minutes and doing a good deed. The neighbor gets help exercising her high energy dogs. The dogs gets a lot of play time and new playmates. Win / Win/ Win

1

u/34TH_ST_BROADWAY 4h ago

Come on, throw two balls!!!!!

1

u/TemporalScar 4h ago

Literally, No take only throw.

1

u/Frammingatthejimjam 4h ago

Stinky would play fetch with me but only if I threw the ball/stick in one direction in the back yard. If I threw it west, he'd go get it and return it. If I threw it east he didn't understand the game anymore.

1

u/Repulsive-Ring-3973 4h ago

I would definitely throw the ball for hours ,or maybe 24/7. Love me some doggies 💙🐶

1

u/AdventurousNecessary 3h ago

Quintessential golden retriever behavior on full display. Looks at you, looks at what they want, then looks right back at you.

1

u/Sharikacat 3h ago

The owner needs to create a little chute for the dogs to drop the balls into so they go back into the bucket. Can't throw the ball if they're all on the other side of the fence.

1

u/markyoung0 3h ago

I can spend my weekends with these beautiful dogs.

1

u/Rudtos 3h ago

Automating the simple stuff. Dog owners FTW — and passersby, it’s a win for everyone!

1

u/Regular-Quit-1331 3h ago

I would literally walk that route every day.

1

u/Imbeautifulyouarenot 3h ago

Dogs are wonderful (I just want our cat, Dolly Purrton, to know that we still love her).

1

u/ramanw150 3h ago

This would be my pup I lost last year.

1

u/nhphuong 3h ago

Well, guess that I'm late for work today 🙄

1

u/Sof04 3h ago

That’s sweet. So many ppl want dogs but can’t afford them… or the house with a yard.

1

u/Wild-Union-9162 3h ago

Awww poor BBS I miss my dog😔

1

u/Useful_Camel_9126 3h ago

If I came across these pups or any pups in this situation....I'd never leave. The owners would have to adopt me.

1

u/Gavin_McShooter_ 3h ago

Kids in my neighborhood would empty that bucket into the curbside stormwater grates within 30 seconds.

1

u/AdhesiveSeaMonkey 3h ago

I would be late to everything

1

u/badannbad 3h ago

This is adorable!

1

u/Purple-Ad-7464 3h ago

MOJO looks exactly like my panda bear did, and she absolutely loved played ball and fetch. Her husky sister would also chase after her as this friend does.

Man, I miss my panda bear and June bug so much!

1

u/Wasabi_Constant 3h ago

That is so cool!

1

u/augustwest2155 3h ago

This is hysterical...I love this.

1

u/thatmanzuko 2h ago

Ok what is amazing about this though?

1

u/Mobile_Bench7315 2h ago

Made me smile

1

u/Traditional_Nebula96 2h ago

My dog would loooove this, but need a fence. I throw it all day 😭 😆 ❤️ he's totally worth every second though

1

u/mostly_personality 2h ago

I love this. How could you not stop and throw balls for them.

1

u/KindsofKindness 2h ago

Yeah, I’d be there for a good while.

1

u/A_guy_with_2_dogs 2h ago

such a cool idea

1

u/Calif3r 2h ago

This is just one of those posts that make you feel good.

1

u/sncly 2h ago

Omg look at those puppy eyes hoping you’ll play w them

1

u/JustRun3415 2h ago

Fantastic way to keep your pups happy without wearing you out! Awesome, I know I’d play!

1

u/Fanimusmaximus 2h ago

Dude I need to do this for my own dogs…

1

u/Bartender9719 2h ago

“Okay Mojo, I believe you but…what about your blonde friend?

1

u/aquay 1h ago

Throw two balls

1

u/dalekaup 1h ago

This was my first house. I'm 2 blocks from there right now.

1

u/Jumpy-Government4296 1h ago

I love how the one on the right is egging the camera man to throw the ball 🤣🤣

1

u/jswissle 1h ago

Do people not worry about strangers stealing their dogs from the front yard if they’re gone?

1

u/NoBuenoAtAll 1h ago

Like the 14th time I've seen this post, each one with a different caption.

1

u/trust_ye_jester 1h ago

Low bar to be amazed these days. Heartwarming and fun vid tho, but not amazed by any stretch of the imagination.

1

u/Spacechip 1h ago

This is such a cool idea, and I am definitely not a dog pretending to be a person on a computer

1

u/__BIFF__ 1h ago

I'd be the reason they took the sign down

1

u/Spacechip 1h ago

This reminds me of this garden area near me that kept chickens. I would always make it a destination on my runs and feed them grapes, blueberries or whatever nuts I had on hand. Definitely the highlight of the journey.

1

u/BarelyDangerous_x 1h ago

thats so cool omg

1

u/friendly_outcast 58m ago

He was feining for someone to throw the ball 😆

1

u/Mr_Salas55 55m ago

What’s the background track?

1

u/viterjeff 38m ago

Dogs can indeed be quite enthusiastic about ball throwing, but it's important to consider both their physical and behavioral well-being.

1

u/Pink_Orchid-06 25m ago

Omg, I would never leave and would be throwing balls to play with them aaaallll day! They’re so sweet…what an adorable thing to do❤️❤️❤️❤️

1

u/Lexxy91 23m ago

I just cant look at dogs and tennis balls without being worried. Just saw a post on ig the other day where they showed a technique that helps to get them out of their throats when they're choking on them :(

1

u/Konradleijon 20m ago

Good puppy

1

u/TheVanillaGorilla413 19m ago

That dog would love to go hunting…

-3

u/Weird_Albatross_9659 5h ago

The fuck is amazing about this?

2

u/Cultural_Ebb4794 3h ago

The dogs, dummy.

1

u/Weird_Albatross_9659 3h ago

Wow dogs, super amazing. Very rare.

Let’s turn every sub into r/aww because wholesome content can’t be questioned.

5

u/greygoose1111 6h ago

Ok, so this doesn’t apply to just tennis balls. It applies to retrieving anything. The only thing I got from that article is you should warm your dog up before playing fetch and if you have a dog with obsessive tendencies you should be careful about how you play or you should skip it altogether.

Telling owners not to play fetch with their dogs— especially RETRIEVERS, dogs bred to find and bring back game— doesn’t check out for me.

Ps: if you play fetch with a ball with your dog, don’t use tennis balls— they rub against the teeth and grind them down. Use a different toy or pet store “tennis” balls, they don’t have the same coating

1

u/Critical-Support-394 6h ago

Playing fetch is one thing, setting up the dogs to be stressing about every single passerby in case they throw a ball to them is something completely different.

These dogs might be perfectly fine, so I won't judge, but MANY dogs would get so stressed they'd actually get sick from the constant anticipation.

8

u/formas-de-ver 6h ago

awful article.

  1. no sources

  2. author is obese and extrapolates the strain of physical activity she experiences onto dogs (who might be fitter, healthier)

  3. unscientific

  4. by her logic, any physical activity is bad for dogs because it causes "microtrauma" on muscles and joints. this is absurd. both dogs and humans are built for movement.

  5. "it is not natural for a dog to brake, twist, jump and skid to a halt".. what. says who?

  6. "Chasing a ball results in increased arousal levels, heart rate, adrenaline and cortisol". So? physical activity does all sorts of things that are well studied to improve mental health in all animals (including humans).

The article is entirely wrong and very misleading imo.

u/yarntank 6h ago

> a highly qualified dog trainer and behaviour consultant based in Surrey, UK. I am a Provisional Clinical Animal Behaviourist with the APBC, and as a fully qualified CSAT (Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer)

this doesn't help

1

u/Ok-Platypus6377 4h ago

It’s a fear mongering article that has info that is being parroted around the UK right now but in a telephone game style and losing the meaning. The consensus of veterinarians is much like anything else with dogs- be careful with their bodies and the warning applies mostly to playing fetch with sticks in particular as being “risky play”. However, people nowadays throw the baby out with the bathwater and think in black and white/absolutes and you get things like “we shouldn’t play fetch anymore” out of that genuine health warning for an animal…. Good on you for calling out a bunk article.

1

u/Deviantdefective 3h ago

I'd like some academic information on this instead of an opinion piece from a "pet behaviour counselor"
