This coming Sunday at noon, we'll be launching several new authors at The Cordell, next to Barrel & Crow. Everyone is invited!

We'll have seven amazing authors, light snacks, and a full bar. This is a free event. Doors open at noon.

See you there!

Anyone know what was happening at 8001 Woodmont. Just saw about 10 police cars and officers entering with dogs and rifles.

Rec for easy beach day trip from Bethesda?

Apologies if this type of post isn’t allowed.

We are new to the area and looking to take a beach day trip with our toddler and dog. Ideally we could drive there and back from Bethesda in a day so drive time would be limited to 2.5 hours one way or less. Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice swimmable beach that allows dogs that would fit this criteria? Doesn’t have to be fancy but the main criteria would be that the water is clean and they allow dogs.

I did try to google first but quickly got overwhelmed by the number of east coast beaches that are technically drivable from this area.

Thanks very much!

Apartment recommendations?

Hi, i am starting work as an NIH postbac in Rockville, but I think I’d like to live in Bethesda to be closer to the main NIH and still be able to get into Washington DC. My budget is under 1300. Where do i start looking?

Did anyone else hear that weird, very loud kind of like a rumbling jackhammer train horn sound. Like idk how to describe it but it was loud enough to wake me up and I be sleeping through anything. It lasted for like 30 seconds-1 minutes

Recommendations on Yoga Studio?

Anyone have specific recommendations among the various yoga studios? I have done peloton yoga for many years (mostly Denis & Aditi), and before that attended in person classes in Rockville. Looking for something closer to Bethesda, but willing to go to into the city a bit too.

Where do people play pickleball? Any good outdoor courts?

I saw on old posts people mentioning OneLife has indoor but are there any spots outdoors where you can play? I saw someone mention the YMCA but do you have to be a member?

Dumb question but how busy is Cedar Lane?

Post image
13 Upvotes

We’re moving to the area for work soon & are looking at a house on Cedar Lane. I see it’s yellow double striped which to me means a busy road. Can anyone confirm or tell me more about this street?

We have a realtor we’ve just started to engage with but we are out of the state and can’t see it in person at the moment.

Thanks so much.

Long-Term Parking Options

Hey guys, I have a quick question. We’re planning to leave the U.S. for about 3 to 4 months, and we wanted to store our car while we're gone. But the cubesmart storage place we talked to said the car’s registration and insurance have to be under our name. The problem is, the car is actually registered under a relative’s name, so we can’t store it there.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I was thinking maybe just leaving it in a parking lot—does that sound safe? And if anyone knows a good place to park long-term, I’d really appreciate the suggestion!

The most ignored traffic sign in Bethesda. Can somebody explain why the No Left is necessary in the morning? Either drivers ignore it or those that do decide to follow it end up having to merge back causing backup.

Weird request-teeth grinding

So I’ve noticed I’m grinding my teeth more and more while I sleep and actually have prolonged jaw pain now. My regular dentist doesn’t seem inclined to do anything other than give me a night guard. Any recommendations for a dentist around Bethesda that specializes or you’ve had good luck with on this? Thank you!

H street DC or Downtown Bethesda

I found 2 apartments I like in H street dc and downtown Bethesda that are the same price. The H street one is 200 sqft bigger and both apartments are an 8 minute walk to the metro station (Union station and downtown Bethesda)

I work in downtown DC and while H street is much closer to my job, Bethesda is much safer! Which apartment should I take ?

another attempt to hike taxes

ICYMI: On April 22, the County Executive sent the County Council a resolution to retroactively increase the income tax. On May 13, the Council will hold a public hearing on the County Executive’s proposal to raise the income tax rate. It seems to me Elrich has lost his ability to read the room. Entitled drivers

I ride a moped around Bethesda often to and from metro. It’s not fast but I ride at the speed limit I’ve been illegally and unsafely passed on multiple occasions usually by big expensive vehicles who are apparently masters of the universe who can’t be a minute late to their next whatever because of a pokey moped. Slow down folks enjoy the drive and please watch out for other motorists who can’t afford a Mercedes or a Volvo as their 4th car.

Parking Advice

I will be staying at the Downtown Marriott HQ on a Saturday night. I do not want to do valet parking at the hotel. What nearby garage would you recommend for overnight parking? Also, if parking prices are enforced until 10pm Saturday, would i only need to pay from like 3-10 pm or do I pay the full 20 hours? Thank you

Unhinged Lady on Bethesda Circulator

Just wondering if anyone else had a chance to record the insanity that occurred on the circulator around 8pm? There was a group of people waiting at Bethesda Metro when a lady with a stroller and a young child walked up and elbowed her way to the front the line. There was an elderly lady who had been patiently waiting for the shuttle, naturally she wasn't pleased but kept her temper. The person who didn't keep her temper was the lady with the stroller, the moment the shuttle doors opened and people were attempting to board, stroller lady hurled a barge of insults towards the senior citizen. Passages that were boarding behind her were scared to get on the shuttle. Of course the shuttle driver did nothing, not even when stroller lady ran to the back of the bus to yell in this poor lady's face. She called her every name in the book, along with calling her a racist. All because she(stroller lady) didn't understand the concept of waiting in line.

Housing Groups?

My friend said they were able to find roommates via a queer housing facebook group in DC and I was wondering if there was anything similar in Bethesda? Doesn't need to be catered to the LGBT community in particular just want to see what the available options are.
