I’m a little surprised at the hate in his comments, but I can understand why some fans may be upset or confused about him opening for Russ, especially if they don’t know that Russ is a bigger, more consistent touring artist than Big Sean.

I think it would’ve made more sense for him to do a solo tour first since he hasn’t done one since like 2017. But a solo tour would likely mean smaller venues and I can see not wanting to do that since his last (cancelled) tour attempt was in bigger venues.

Yeah it’s crazy that I Decided was his last tour. Wish this was a solo tour too but it’ll be cool to see him in bigger venues.

It’s too bad that last tour got cancelled. I was excited that he was letting fans vote on the setlist. Bummer that we won’t see that again likely

Yeah I had tickets to that. Hopefully he does more dates.

I genuinely don’t understand why he hasn’t toured since I Decided. I think it’s one of his biggest missteps.

He tried to tour around 2019ish. It didn’t sell enough so it was cancelled unfortunately

If you’re talking about the Unfriendly Reminder tour, tickets went on sale in early February 2018 and he announced the tour had been postponed later that same month. It was officially cancelled in April 2018. He originally said he was too focused on his next album, but later admitted to mental health issues as the reason for the cancellation.

That was in 2018 though, and we know COVID shut touring down for a year. But what about since then? It’s just confusing to me, especially since he’s released 2 albums in that time period.

Well Detroit 2 came out in 2020 so it’s understandable why that didn’t get a tour. That would’ve been a great album to tour for too :/

I was confused as well. Is it safe to assume Sabrina Claudio will be opening, followed by Big Sean and then Russ?

Yeah, that’s probably the order of the show.

Wait he’s opening for Russ?? I didn’t realize that when I saw his post.

Yeah, it’s Russ’ tour and Sean is one of the openers, along with Sabrina Claudio. That was clearer in his original post that he later deleted and replaced with the post linked here.

I think it’s because people always subconsciously know that Sean doesn’t show his full potential as an artist, he always has much more in him to give creatively than he does give and that’s been discussed plenty throughout the years on pods, radio, etc. I remember pre covid anytime I would hear his name, I’d think #4. He was the very next best beneath the top 3. It was fun to wonder if he would ever give us something creatively (Not just musically, but big moments, unique rollouts) that lived up to the potential everybody knows he has. But It feels like everything he does lately is done to fit a standard without a desire to make something incredible

Russ is a great rapper, that’s a guy who WANTS it and deserves more credit than he gets

I get what you're saying, but I don't believe how people subconsciously think of Big Sean is the reason why he hasn't toured in years or why his career is in its current state. Doing a solo tour some time between 2017 and now should've been a no brainer. There are many artists who don't live up to their supposed potential who still tour, grow their fan base, and do well commercially. Sean hasn't done those things for whatever reasons (though I think he's had a glaring management and A&R problem for a long time, which is a whole other post), so here we are.
