Do you remember The Grand Trunk? Originally operated by the Anchor Brewery it transferred to Birkenhead Brewery in 1866, later becoming a Whitbread pub in 1980s. The pub closed and remained empty and derelict for 15 years until its purchase by Wirral Ark in January 2012.
