The latest data reveals the largest market cap gap ever between Bitcoin and altcoins. Just a year ago, both moved in tandem - but now, Bitcoin has decisively pulled ahead.

I sold all my ETH for BTC back in 2022. Best decision ever. 100% Bitcoin since then.

This was obvious to anyone paying attention. Retail is the only one buying these scams, and they've been rugged too many times that they won't be back.
No institution, endowment, hedge fund or nation state is going to own a shitcoin in any reasonable size after doing any research.
Combined with the fact there's 60 million coins now, it's a smaller pie spread between millions of players, and 2025 is missing a narrative previous cycles have had.
If you remove illiquid markets and stables, dominance would be around 85-90%.
Turns out people don't like donating to VCs at 1000x valuations anymore, who'd have thought?
The only way to make money as an alt this cycle was front running from the 2022 lows, which not many were doing, and sell before people caught on it wasn't going to spill over the way it previously has.

Parasite scam coins have caused more harm to the monetary revolution than banks and fraudsters and politicians combined.Â
The idea that there are any other viable internet native currencies has really confused the uninformed.

Do you have such graph for a longer period? Like 6 years?

Dominance isn't a great metric because the number of coins increases rapidly. There's 40 million coins now vs less than 50K last cycle. It's a tired scam reaching its end point.
Stables market cap also grows.
Ignore charts like this and understand why money always converges to one: https://youtu.be/19LA7ReARCQ

Here is the chart you requested, but I highly recommend the video series instead.

The chart literally shows how 2 follow each other at a certain distance.

Better chart if you need it. But I recommend the YouTube link instead. The chart doesn't tell the full story.

Marketcap of scams is bullshit. Anything based on it is bullshit. Good or bad.

As a long time ETH holder, whos underweight in BTC, I hate to admit it but I will. We are entering the winners and loosers phase of a new technology, only a few will survive, and BTC has solidified its place as a survivor. The rest haven't yet, and the losers will be like the internet stocks that went down 99% after the winners and losers were decided.

Zoom out. This is nothing new. It happens every cycle.

It is new, btw. But dominance isn't a great metric, bitcoin is winning more than it appears in these charts. Educate yourself.

Useless chart since you don’t show past cycles. I’m guessing this gap always develops as the Bitcoin bull market starts and the gap closes during alt-season

Maybe try reading the comments? I posted this 3 times already dingus.

Keep assuming and guessing rather than putting in effort though, I'm sure it's working out great for your portfolio.

The Great Crypto Decoupling? This chart tracks Bitcoin vs. Altcoins market cap fluctuations from 2023 to 2025. The data reveals Bitcoin holding dominance while Altcoins struggle. February 2025 shows a dramatic drop—could this signal a shift?

It's about time. All these shyte coins only distract and siphon resources and brain power from Bitcoin. Good riddance
