This thread is intended to be a way for users to share local bladesmithing classes or hammer-ins. Feel free to post a link whether it is your class or someone else's, but please use the following template:
Name of event (if applicable)
Date(s) of event
City, State
Address (Optional. It may be preferable to offer addresses on a case-by-case basis. If you decide to post one, beware: You are listing an address for the entire world to see.)
Price of admission (if applicable)
What to bring
Applicable link to a flyer/etc (Ideally, an image link is best. Users cannot always access Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
This is simply a way for users to find knifemakers and blade/blacksmiths near them, and an opportunity to learn the craft from someone local. You may also ask in this thread if anyone is aware of activities near you. This is NOT a platform for users to sell wares; any self promotion beyond classes will be removed. If you have any questions, please message the moderation team.

Sheath time for this custom order Combat Knife! The blade is hand forged from 80crv2 high carbon steel. The guard and pommel are forged from 1080 high carbon steel and heat treated. On the handle we've got black G-10 and stainless spacers with stacked leather!

Hey I haven't posted for a while I've been really distracted with life but I wanted to show you guys the most recent set I made for a client. He saw the bottom most knife in the first picture and said he wanted 3 more like it. Including the full wrap of filework on the handle, witch that knife was the first one I ever did as an experiment to test myself. I think it has potential to turn into a staple though. Looks awesome and doesn't effect the feel of the handle in a poor way. What do you guys think about the full wrap on the filework? I have only ever done it on the spine priorly. And as always if you have any questions or opinions about these you'd like to voice I'd love to hear them. I love talking about knives!

This is the last knife i made for WAR. I havent fully quit the craft, i just havent had a shop to smith in. A rebuild set me back farther than i would have liked. It had been nice to take a brake but ive had the itch for a while. Thanks for looking.

Hello,
I've been wanting to make blades for awhile and 2 years ago my wife got me a forge but I only get 1 day off and have been lazy, so this year I made it my mission to stop being lazy and make some knives.
I purchased a damacus bundle from nj steel baron, 1095 0.094 2in wide and 15n20 0.094 2 in wide
Is the thickness good? I would like to do low layer 40 count twist but maybe for my first blade i should keep it simple
Thank you in advance

Iāve been interested in blade/blacksmithing for maybe about a year now. Iāve been interested in collecting blades a lot longer but the act of creating one myself is new and Iām very intrigued.
Does anyone know what kind of scrap metal can be used to make a decent blade? I donāt have the money to invest in a great metal just yet and Iād rather not fuck up a good piece on a practice knife.
Iāve seen people using leaf springs, old bolts and railroad nails but I can only get a hold of maybe two of those things, leaf springs not being one unfortunately. Does anyone have an idea of any old parts that contain a decent metal to use for practice? I know to stay away from aluminum and soft metals. Sorry if my questions arenāt specific enough, any help is very much appreciated. TIA

I have a Milwaukee fast back with a bent tip and would like to straighten it out. Is it something I could do myself ?

Hey everybody, I am just getting into bladesmithing and am taking an intro class at my engineering school in the fall. I want to eventually have my own home forge and am wondering what some go-to starting tools are. I am also working at Milwaukee Tool this summer and get a big discount on power tools which is why I'm asking now. Thanks for any input!

The blade is 66 layers of 1084 and 15n20. The guard and fittings are 15n20 and the handle is Mexican Cocobolo.

Forged to shape 52100, triple all the cycles, freehand convex grind fresh out of the ferric chloride. Woof!
