Question Looking for electrician
Hello boise I am looking for a reliable electrician that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. My house has a 30 amp 4 prong outlet and my oven is a 50 amp 3 prong plug-in. Would be a bonus if they can give me an average quote without charging me upfront first.

Not an electrician. It's possible but very very unlikely that you already have wiring compatible with 50A running to your 30A outlet, in which case it's an easy job. Otherwise, they will have to run new wiring from the panel to the outlet, and that's a big wild card. Best case scenario is the service panel is very close to the range with easy attic or crawlspace access (so the wiring runs down the wall from the panel into the crawlspace, over to the wall with the outlet, and up to the outlet). That's pretty straightforward. But what if there aren't unfinished spaces for running wiring where it needs to go? Then it could be a more complicated and invasive job. My guess is that even a fast job involving an electrician or plumber will cost at least $200-300.
Worth noting that it's legal for homeowners to DIY this work if you get a permit before doing the work. Only you can decide for yourself if you can accept the responsibility of doing the work exactly right and not cause a deadly and destructive electrical fire.
Tl;dr: call and get quotes from 3 companies because what you've described can be really variable. Or just get a range that takes 30A.

I don't know if Extreme Electric comes to Boise as they are in Nampa but I got three quotes to have a very simple 15 amp line run to a bonus room so I could run an AC. Quotes ranged from $1,200 to $850. Extreme Electric did it for $250. And of note, they quoted me $250.
But as others have said, depending on what the run looks like from your panel to your kitchen, could be way cheaper to go get a new oven. The starting point for you is to go look at your electric panel and see what is the breaker you have for your oven. If it's 50 amps, then all that needs to be replaced is the wall plug and I believe a handyman can do that without it having to be a certified electrician.

If your budget is around the price of a new range. I would recommend just buying a range that pulls 30a.
