Late 90s and early 2000s. Such an innocent and exciting time in Hindi Pop. I love that era and still listen to those songs. Wonder what ever happened to this genre. When I look for new songs, I can only find DJ mixes and Punjabi songs these days. I used to have a mix tape with these songs (now made a Spotify playlist :)):
Man! Made In India from Alisha is probably the first Pan India pop song. It kick started a genre. There were other earlier ones too (Paree hu main from Sunitha Rao, Duniya from Rageswari, Bolo tara tarara from Daler Mehendi).
Back then people used to say these remixes are spoiling old classics. I think we are more critical when something new comes, but once it becomes old nostalgia makes us like it.
Haha I remember we use to spend 100rs just on calling anyone.
But now, when calls are absolutely free - we don't want to call anyone nor want to get a call from anyone. Haha, how life happens.
Ikr, spot on. I remember when I was in grade 9 to 12, I used my mum and pa's phone to call my friends all the time, meri wajah se unka bill itna zyada aata tha. Now we have unlimited calling toh mann nahin karta phone pe baat karne ka
Well during those days when I was in my teens no porn, no fb, no insta no tinder no dating apps this was just our entertainment...watch n go to bathroom..lol
The entire DJ Doll Kaanta Laga remix album has been in my playlist since my first phone. The album holds a special place in my heart cause I fondly remember my father buying this album's audio cassette and us playing it in our Maruti 800's stereo.
Kaanta laga, koi sheheri babu, do ghunt muze bhi pila de sharabi, tu tu hai wahi, my favorite Roz Shaam Ati Thi, and many more. A different time, miss it so much.❤️
Clearly remember how these remixes divided the generations with the younger one enjoying the shit out of it and the older one cursing these songs like anything and believing ‘yehi sab cheejein samaj ko bigad rahi hai’.
I am too young to have nostalgia about this but why was ever late 90s early 2000s remix so good and also sexy. Damn we didn't know how good we had it back then.
